We had such a great time at our Japanese meetup today!

It was lovely to welcome a new face, and we spent the afternoon chatting, laughing and playing games in Japanese✨

Today’s game was “Draw a Monster Face”
One person described the monster — “It has 5 ears, a big nose…” — and everyone had to draw what they heard!

Today in our Mum & Kids Japanese class, we celebrated Tanabata (the Star Festival) 🎋 by making traditional Tanabata decorations.

Tanabata is a traditional Japanese festival celebrated on the 7th July. It is based on the beautiful legend of two stars, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way and can meet only once a year on this special day. People write their wishes on colourful paper strips called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches, hoping their dreams will come true.

In our Japanese classes, we don't just learn the language—we also enjoy discovering Japanese culture, traditions, and seasonal events through fun, hands-on activities.

What a lovely surprise from one of my students!
He recently went to see a Japanese drumming performance in London and kindly sent me this postcard afterwards — and he even wrote the card in Japanese! I was so happy to hear how much he enjoyed it.

The group is called YAMATO The Drummers of Japan, and they perform all around the world. They look amazing!
