🚙 Nostalgia Time: Kenner Jurassic Park Jungle Explorer (1993)

If there was one vehicle every young Jurassic Park fan wanted in the ’90s, it had to be the Kenner Jungle Explorer. Inspired by the iconic Ford Explorer from the original 1993 film, this toy let us imagine we were driving straight through the jungles of Isla Nublar… until the dinosaurs attacked!

Packed with fun features, the Jungle Explorer included a Dino-Damage hood that popped off to reveal the engine after a dinosaur encounter
and a firing “Blood Sample” missile launcher.

With its bright green and red Jurassic Park paint scheme, it looked just like the movie vehicle and quickly became one of the standout pieces in Kenner’s legendary toy line. Whether you were rescuing stranded visitors, escaping a hungry T. rex, or creating your own adventures, this was the perfect vehicle for hours of imagination.

Over 30 years later, it’s still one of the most recognisable and sought-after Jurassic Park toys, bringing back memories of living room expeditions and epic dinosaur battles.

🦖 Throwback to Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (1998) 🕹️

Who else remembers firing up the Nintendo 64 and diving into the dark, atmospheric world of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil? Released in 1998, this sequel took everything fans loved about the original and made it bigger, bloodier, and far more ambitious.

From battling terrifying alien creatures and mutated dinosaurs to taking on the unforgettable Flesh Eaters, Raptors, and the terrifying Primagen, every level felt like an adventure into the unknown. The sprawling maps, hidden secrets, and brutal difficulty meant you could spend hours exploring.

And then there were the weapons… the Cerebral Bore became one of gaming’s most iconic guns, locking onto enemies before drilling into their skulls in spectacular fashion. It was unlike anything we’d seen before!

The game also pushed the N64 to its limits with impressive visuals, atmospheric music, and an excellent multiplayer mode that kept friends battling long after the campaign was finished.

For many of us, Turok 2 wasn’t just another first-person shooter—it was one of the defining action games of the Nintendo 64 era, blending dinosaurs, sci-fi, horror, and over-the-top weapons into an unforgettable experience.

🦖 Nostalgia Rewind: Godzilla (1998) 🗽

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that Godzilla (1998) left a lasting impression on a whole generation of monster fans. Released in 1998 and directed by Roland Emmerich, this Hollywood reimagining gave the King of the Monsters a completely new look that sparked debate among fans.

Unlike the classic Japanese Godzilla, this version was designed to look much more like a real prehistoric predator. Inspired by theropod dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex and agile raptors, the creature had a lean body, long powerful legs, a horizontal stance, and moved with incredible speed. It felt less like an unstoppable radioactive titan and more like a giant dinosaur brought to life.

The film also gave us some unforgettable moments, from Godzilla tearing through the streets of New York to the tense raptor-inspired hatchling sequence inside Madison Square Garden. The soundtrack was packed with late-‘90s hits, and who could forget Jamiroquai’s Deeper Underground?

While longtime fans criticised the drastic redesign, many people who grew up in the late ’90s have a real soft spot for this version. It introduced a whole new audience to giant monster movies and remains a nostalgic favourite nearly three decades later.

The Kenner Jurassic Park Dilophosaurus remains one of the most memorable toys from the original 1993 line. Inspired by one of the film’s most unforgettable scenes, this figure came with the brilliant “Dino-Strike Venom Spray” feature. Fill it with water, squeeze the body, and it would spit just like the movie version that blinds Dennis Nedry before its deadly attack.

While the real Dilophosaurus was much larger and almost certainly couldn’t spit venom or flare a frill, those creative additions made it one of Jurassic Park’s most iconic dinosaurs—and one of the coolest toys to own as a kid.

Who else remembers filling this up at the sink and spraying absolutely everything in sight? 😂🦖

Remember Jurassic Park III: Dino Defender? 🦖🎮

Released in 2001 for PC, Dino Defender was one of those hidden Jurassic Park gems that let players step into the boots of a park worker armed with a tranquiliser gun, trying to survive Isla Sorna while rescuing stranded workers and avoiding hungry dinosaurs.

From outrunning relentless Velociraptors to sneaking past towering Tyrannosaurus rex and even facing off against the fearsome Spinosaurus, every level felt like a race for survival. The pre-rendered backgrounds gave the game a unique look, while the simple point-and-click gameplay made it easy to jump straight into the action.

It may not have been the biggest Jurassic Park game ever made, but for many fans who grew up in the early 2000s, Dino Defender remains a nostalgic slice of Jurassic history that’s well worth remembering.
