📣 Modulate Artist Announcement : AM Frequencies

A Modulate favourite returning to .gallery.wales this Friday is AM Frequencies.

This is what Andy had to say .... "I am Andy Marshall, also known in the electronica world as AM Frequencies. I am a classically trained violinist who plays 1st violin with Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra, and most recently drummer of post- rock band Made of Regret; music is my LIFE outside of work as a software engineer. I got into modular synthesis just before lockdown, and what was going to be a small rack got a lot bigger in lockdown, as this hobby turned more into an obsession! Since doing my first modular gig at Birmingham Modular Organisation in September 2022 I have played more EMOM nights than I can remember, and have had good feedback about my sets. My style is very ambient/IDM with a donk on it, usually."

📣 Modulate Artist Announcement : Tekkaz

Another artist making their Modulate debut at .gallery.wales this Friday is Tekkaz.

The Human Squid from Stoke's Electric Te****le EMOM rides waves of deep throbbing techno into Colwyn Bay on its summer migratory journey around the UK and western Europe.
Sounds taken from various synths, modular rig and previous performances then improvised using Ableton Live and various crayon coloured in MIDI controllers.

Another Modulate favourite playing this Friday at .gallery.wales is The Mycelium Frequency.

Using modular synthesis as his primary instrument, Matthew Syddall creates immersive live performances that blend evolving ambient textures, experimental electronics and hypnotic rhythms. Every set is performed live and shaped in the moment, making each performance completely unique.

📣 Modulate Artist Announcement : Martin Modulate

A familiar face to Modulate regulars Martin Modulate will be once again bringing his noisey acidic techno to Ink. this Friday.

Martin Modulate delivers high-octane, acid-infused techno fueled by an unrelenting punk attitude. Involved in the music scene since the mid-90s and first playing out live in the early 2000s, Martin's sets feature dirty driving 303s and pounding beats that never fail to get the place rocking. In recent years, he has cemented his reputation with a string of tracks released on the seminal UK acid techno label, Stay Up Forever. Since starting to play out live again 2 years ago, Martin has become a mainstay of the Modulate collective - which is fortunate given his artist name!

📣 Modulate Artist Announcement : David Hopewell

David Hopewell is another sonic artist making his Modulate debut at .gallery.wales this Friday.

David Hopewell is a musician and sound artist from Bethesda with particular interests in environmental recordings, improvisation, electronica and live performance. He has released several albums based on field recordings. Dinosaurs Among Us (on Recordiau Cae Gwyn) was based entirely on birdsong and a series of albums available on his Bandcamp page explore the environment of the Ogwen Valley. He is currently exploring modular synthesisers, granular synthesis and evolving ambient(ish) soundscapes. He can also be found playing with spoken word and electronica duo, Hopewell Ink, the Llift free improvisation collective, swing punks Hwli and ancient and venerable blues maestros the Cane Toads.

📣 Modulate Artist Announcement : Somosoro

Yet another Modulate debut at .gallery.wales this Friday is Somosoro.

From the artist himself - "My music is like a fusion of ideas that I have had floating around my head. I come from the acid house generation and have always loved the sound. I try to write melodic evolving sounds that move me and hopefully reach out to others. As a DJ I always tried to incorporate vocal samples into my mixes and in this performance set up I continue to include samples, some are more familiar and some less so, but that is relative to what people are into. Mostly I like dance music, I try to build progressive sets and use some effects in the chain to try and capture intensity and atmosphere. Mostly I just hope people enjoy the sound. "
