Reflecting on some of the fantastic events that we have had over the summer our visit from the Changemaker groups from The Green Team Edinburgh & Lothians sprung to mind!

We had a fantastic time in June with them discussing some of our research focuses at St Abbs Marine Station and Aquarium and the discussions surrounding these topics. As well as of course taking a closer look at some of our local North Sea species.

"The team at St Abbs Marine Station revealed some of the wonders of the deep with our group. Through their aquarium we were able to see some of the diversity of life that thrives in the North Sea and learn more about the important marine science work that’s conducted at the station. The team were knowledgeable and enthusiastic communicators, able to inspire our teenagers to consider some of the complexities around the relationship between humans and the marine environment."

Thank you to everyone who joined us on our beach clean as part of the Marine Conservation Society's citizen science programme!

Special thanks to Berwickshire Marine Reserve and their fabulous volunteers for joining in and lending us their equipment, we couldn't have done it without you!

Survey results are in and we collected a fantastic 11.3kg of litter good job everyone 💪.

Notice for today!! Don't forget we have our beach clean this afternoon where we will be joined by the fantastic Berwickshire Marine Reserve.

If you were wondering what to do at 17:30 today this could be it:

📍Meeting is at 17:30 today in Coldingham Bay car park and we will walk down to the beach from there. Equipment is provided and make sure to wear sensible shoes.

We had a great time at St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve NTS showing off our little rockpool corner of the North Sea for the Bioblitz 2026!

We joined some brilliant organisations including Berwickshire Marine Reserve, River Tweed News and Blue Marine Foundation and loved to hear about all of your amazing wildlife stories and spots. Thanks for having us!

We can't wait to head up to St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve NTS Visitor Centre tomorrow to join in on their fantastic bioblitz event!

We are excited to promote our latest event on Sunday 23rd August 2026 run by the fantastic Caroline aka Scapa Joe, where we will be creating art from beach litter gathered from our beach clean the day before.

Tickets are £15 and one child goes free with each adult ticket purchased. Please make sure to include the number of children attending so that we can manage capacity.

📢Calling all beach cleaners!! We have a beach clean planned for Saturday 22nd August 2026 at 17:30.

Unleash your inner citizen scientist with us at St Abbs Aquarium and spend some time with us doing your bit for your local beach at Coldingham Sands!
