Hi all,

James here from Shufflewire; as you may have noticed, for the past few months (and years,) I've gone very quiet with Shufflewire and haven't been putting out many live sessions.

As you know, Shufflewire was always a passion project and creative outlet for me, so I was only able to commit to recording/editing a session in my spare time, which is unfortunately very limited these days.

So it's unfortunate to say that I'll be closing Shufflewire in its current capacity. However, I will, of course, keep the page, and YouTube channel going so those videos don't disappear! You never know, I might try and edit any remaining sessions I have up my sleeve.

I'm still doing a lot of filmmaking work and will be looking to do some more creative music video production work in the future, so please add James Prismall if you're interested.

Thank you to all the amazingly talented musicians I've had the pleasure to work with since 2015 when we first launched. It's been fantastic to see how many have progressed musically, and many have even now been signed.

To put this into perspective - if we look at Spotify's payout per stream at £0.002 to £0.0038 per stream. A user who pays £9.99 per month for their subscription will need to stream between 2600 - 5000 songs per month to reach that monthly subscription amount.

If the average duration of a track is 3 min 30 sec, that is 12.15 days worth of listening. However much a music lover, it's slightly doubtful that you're going to be streaming 9.72 hours per day.

Then on average, the artist will only get 13% of that revenue anyway. Crazy right?

The music industry is weighted against artists, who see "pitiful returns" from streaming, MPs say.
