I've been working on a few different things lately. Today I had my pencils out, as I'm at an event in three weeks time.

More on both of those later! 😁

This pet portrait is now finished! 🐾🎨

I was beginning to think that this German Shepherd would never be done. But here we are! 😊
She is now ready to go to the framer's, then off to her new home.

Meanwhile, I'll be on to the next...

By the way, I have a space free for a 12"x16" pastel pencils and/or pastels or 8"x11" coloured pencil commission coming up in late November.
Do get in touch if you want to book the slot!
(Please note, serious applicants only. Also, I require half payment cleared before I start work, as this covers my costs. Thanks. 😁)

I am working my way down her face and body now. πŸ€—πŸΎπŸŽ¨

First I block the places where the light is catching her fur.
Then I add in some darker colours.
I add more layers to build up the fur.
And - before the area I am working on is finished - I put in the light and dark first layer on the next section.

πŸ€” How do you approach your work?
Do you finish each task you do completely before moving on?
Or do you overlap with the next task?

Working on this beautiful of a is so fun! 😊

This one is not a but a slow start back into my routine.

Come back and watch my as she develops. 🎨😊

[Image description: A picture of a German Shepherd dog is emerging. The ears are pretty much finished, and I am now working on the face. The eyes are mostly marked in, and I have added the highlights in the fur around the muzzle and cheeks. I am using coloured pencil on pastelmat, which leaves the fur looking soft and strokeable. The dog looks like she is sitting patiently and waiting to be finished. This is just as well, because coloured pencil is a slow medium! End of image description]

It's a new season. So here are some lovely warm autumnal colours. 😊

For my children, it's a new school year this week. New classrooms, new teachers and new desk partners.

I'm told that their friends have changed over the summer. I can believe this, because my children have changed too.

They have grown mentally, and gained new skills. They had their second ever sleepover (thanks to Lockdown!).

And for me, there is a new drawing on my board. But what is it? πŸ€”

[Image description: A new pet portrait has been started. So far, there is one furry ear drawn and shaded in coloured pencil on pastelmat. This allows me to make the fur look soft and strokeable, just like the original ear. I'm not telling what animal it is yet, and letting people guess. 😊 End of image description.]

We're going to be at an event today for the first time in a while! The event is awesome and one of my helpers is looking forward to using the bouncy castle. 😊

We're there with the handmade cards, but will also have some artwork available. You can of course come to see us and book a commission directly.

πŸ’₯ BIG NEWS πŸ’₯ FARMERS MARKETS πŸ’₯

I am very aware that sales are harder to come by at the moment which is why I'm looking at pitch prices. People have mentioned from time to time about them all being same price regardless of being inside or outside. So for the remainder of this year I will reduce St Cedds stall fees to :

πŸ“£ Β£13 a month. πŸ“£

We would love to find :

Honey stall, Vegan and Vegetarian stall, Refill Station, hot sauces, handmade Fudge, Spirits, Fish and Cheese. We are asking that produce stalls commit for the remainder of this year last one is November 11th.

Spread the word and If you know someone that would be interested please point them in our direction.

27/06/2023

I have a couple of spaces that have come up if anyone is interested in a pet portrait.
