We love a bit of Rockabilly at 50rpm, so it is great to see a few different events happening locally.

On the 18th Sept, The Gartcosh Rockin' R***e is at the Gartcosh Social Club with the Cooking Jackfats & The Chimney Stacks, and The Tennessee Hotshots.

The guys from Rockabilly Revival have a full weekend of music coming up on the 25th & 26th September at the Columba Club in Moodiesburn, with 7 bands.

Get along for some great music, and make sure you have your dancin' shoes on.

John played an amazing sold-out show for us a few years back, and we are doing something a bit special this time with a more intimate show where John can play an extended sets from his solo work, his work with I Am Kloot, and stories about the songs, and about his career.

Our next gig is on Sat 12th September with the wonderful Mercury prize nominated I Am Kloot's John Bramwell.

On John's last visit to 50rpm, he played to a sell-out crowd and received two standing ovations. John has a way of connecting with an audience that few can match.

A wee reminder that we have some places available for all the gigs we put on for those who would like to come along to one of our gigs, but find it difficult for whatever reason, whether that be due to finances or health related or being new to the area. We are a friendly and welcoming bunch.

When we started 50rpm, the idea was simple. To find a sustainable and viable way to bring live music to our town, providing a platform for touring musicians and a launching pad for local talent, while making the community feel part of it.

We feel we have succeeded in doing just that. It has been hard. Covid, lockdown, Brexsh*t, a cost of living crisis & the lack of government investment in the arts have all been hefty challenges, but we are still here fighting the good fight.

The main reason we are still here is down to the community we have built and the members that are our foundation. Without our members, we wouldn't exist. Our members aren't your average music fan. They turn up gig after gig, no matter the type of music, supportive & encouraging to whoever graces our stage. That is a passion that has gave us a global reputation amongst musicians as a unique & vital place on the live circuit.

Where ever you live, search out those amazing places and people that are putting on live music, and support them. Break out your comfort zone and go and see something you normally wouldn't... you might just be surprised.

The Full Moon Comedy Club returns to the Georgian Hotel after a fantastic sold-out launch night, with another 4 fantastic comedians.

Friday 20th November is the date for your diaries, when your compere, local legend Patrick Rolink introduces the multi ward winning Scottish comedy icon Viv Gee, Australia's no1 impersonator and close personal friend of Jason Donavan, Rayjack, and fresh from a sold-out show at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, Jen TR.

The wonderful Musicfest Mainstage Festival in Uddingston returns next Saturday. We have been to all of them so far, and it is such a great day out, and amazing value for money.

It is a brilliant family friendly music festival, with a great mix of well known names and fantastic local talent. The line up this year includes Inspiral Carpets, Badly Drawn Boy, Rianne Downey, Mickey 9s, Carla J Easton and lots more fantastic musicians.

It is great to have such a well run festival on our doorstep which supports local talent, and attracts big name headliners.
