Coalburn IOR is delighted to announce the appointment of David Murray as Leading Drummer with immediate effect.

David is a vastly experienced instructor and drummer, having played in Grade 1 with Vale of Atholl and Dowco Triumph Street. His latest role was a successful period leading the Livingston Caledonia drum corps.

We now enter preparations for the 2027 season.

We have vacancies across all areas for players at G1/2 level. Interested parties should contact the band page. All enquiries will be treated confidentially.

We would also like to place on record our thanks and gratitude to Craig Shanks for stepping into the role on an interim basis. This allowed the band to complete our 2026 competing schedule.

Saturday marked the first outing for our Grade 4B band at Lesmahagow Highland Games.

It was a great experience for all the players, and for our supporters who got to hear the band in public for the first time.

Also joining us on the day was our good friend Bill Wright who was playing at his first Lesmahagow Highland Games since 1962!

Coalburn IOR Pipe Band can confirm that Leading Drummer, William Kerr, has decided to leave the position in our Grade 2 band with immediate effect.

He continues to fulfil his tutoring role within the Grade 4B band.

Craig Shanks will take up the position on an interim basis and the band are committed to our competing schedule for the remainder of the season.

William leaves with our sincere thanks for his services over the past 18 years and the part he has played in bringing success to the band. Most recently in 2023 where European and Scottish Championship titles were won, culminating in our promotion to Grade 2 as Champion of Champions.
