“But… What is Burlesque?” 🤔

If you’re new to Burlesque, here’s a bit of information for you…

* Burlesque is an art form.

* The word, ‘Burlesque’ basically means to make a joke, mock or parody something.

* British Burlesque shows were popular in Victorian times and originated with comedy, intending to cause laughter from an audience.

* The ‘striptease’ element of Burlesque later developed and became popular from the 1920’s onwards.

* Burlesque is often referred to as, ‘the art of the tease’ with emphasis on the ‘tease’ part of the word, ‘striptease.’

* Burlesque isn’t new. It’s actually been around for centuries and is performed all around the world and includes many different styles of Burlesque performance.
