💙 Principal partner spotlight: Steeles Solicitors

At Clitheroe Rugby Club, we believe rugby is about much more than what happens on the pitch. It’s about bringing people together, building friendships and creating opportunities for everyone to feel part of something.

That’s why we’re proud to have Steeles Solicitors as our Principal Club Partner. A huge thank you to their team for their continued support of our club and everything we stand for. 👏

🏉 What does their support mean for our club?

Their partnership helps us continue to provide rugby for all, from our youngest junior players through to our senior men’s teams, Valley Vixens and veterans.

It helps us create opportunities for people to stay physically active, support their mental wellbeing, develop confidence and build lasting friendships.

For many, a rugby club is much more than somewhere to play sport. It’s a place to belong, connect with others and feel part of the community. That’s how we help tackle social isolation and make Clitheroe Rugby Club a welcoming place for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Whilst there's no rugby at Silcock Park this weekend, we do have both men's teams in action. The firsts are away at Oldham, and we hope this time the referee allocated manages to see out the game, whilst the 2nds are away at Garstang 3rds.

The 1sts are looking to bounce back from last weekend's reverse at Oxton and despite the injury list getting longer, the team has two key guys returning to the starting line up and captain Oscar will be driving the lads on to come back with the win.

The 2nds are a little light on numbers but are excited to get back to action after last weekend's disappointment of not being able to fulfill their first home fixture of the season against Burnley after the lack of a referee.

Both games kick off at 3pm so if you can, get along to support them. 👍

🏉 A CHANGE OF PLAN FOR TODAY

Unfortunately, today’s 2nd XV fixture against Burnley has had to be rescheduled, as we haven’t been able to secure a referee for the game.

A big thank you to everyone who has tried to get the fixture on, it’s hugely appreciated. 👏

But all is not lost!

You can still come down to Clitheroe Rugby Club and enjoy some rugby today.

🍺 Bar open from 2pm
📺 Northampton Saints v Bristol Bears live on the big screen
🕒 Kick-off: 3pm

So why not head down, grab a drink and enjoy the game with us?

Hope to see you all at the club! 💙

Season 26/27 starts tomorrow. About time.

Silcock Park is in great nick and the 1st XV open their league campaign there under new captain Oscar Duck. It's a ⏰1.30pm kick-off to suit our visitors, Vagabonds Rugby Club from the Isle of Man. They look after us brilliantly when we go over there, and we intend to return the favour tomorrow, on the pitch and in the clubhouse.

Pre-season brought together new faces, the current squad and a few lads who'd hung up their boots. The result is an 18 with one debutant and eight who came through the junior ranks at Clitheroe. With a full fixture list ahead there's plenty of room to build, and it starts with a proper test in the first competitive outing of the year.

Our thanks to Sandy Woods, who takes charge of the game.

Just as encouraging is the 2nd XV. The togetherness of pre-season, and the effort to make training work for competitive and social players alike, means we're sending a strong side to a tough one away at Preston Grasshoppers 4th XV. Team manager Sam Cheesman is backed by Kirk Kenyon, Jamie Taylor and Peter Mitchell, with Peter wearing the captain's armband.

Good luck to everyone in maroon and gold tomorrow. Have a great day of rugby.

The clubhouse is open from 12.30, so come down, enjoy the atmosphere and the bar. 🍻🍷☕.
