I’ve really enjoyed the first couple of exercises from Sally-Anne Ashley for the ‘seeing more clearly’ week she’s running.
I was swimming early this morning entranced by the cloud filled skies which inspired me to start my ‘noticing what you notice’ pages … and I still have a head full of the Norman Ackroyd prints we saw in Bath last week - of those moody skies!!!

Then as our garden develops I’m increasingly obsessed by the plants growing up all around the shedstudio - I’ve long been a lover of leaves but this is playing right into this and taking it to the next level and don’t get me started on unfurling leaves …

Now I’m off to answer the journal prompts … BUT I’ve already had a little revelation that it’s the DIFFERENCES of all these beasties, whether cloud forms or leaf forms that I’m really drawn to and that gets me excited …

When you just can’t help yourself … a ‘what if…?’ pops into my head and before I know it the knife and cutting boards are out and I’m trying something out with my prints.
What I do know is that these ‘what if..?’ ideas don’t always work… but they are ALWAYS worth trying anyway because it teaches me something!
The jury is still out on this piece …

I frequently come back time and again to exploring layered botanical printing as the varieties of prints you can make from some simple plant materials are endless!
This time the colour palette was inspired by .art whose class on the Gelliprint Summit of 2023 was so inspirational and who I was lucky enough to meet recently at her open studios.
She was working her layers dark to light which gives such an effect of depth … and with new plants I’d collected from recent walks ready to play with I thought I’d have a go!
