The choir is a sociable and committed group, well established in the community. It was founded 65 years ago and has performed much of the great classic choral repertoire, as well as a wide selection of contemporary and more unusual material. Matthew Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Monteverdi's Vespers, and Mendelssohn's Elijah, as well as The Golden Dawn, the first performance of a new work compos
ed by Cyril Lloyd, and other well-known contemporary works, such as John Rutter's Magnificat and Karl Jenkins's Stella Natalis. It is led by its energetic and enthusiastic young conductor, Jamie Powe
The choir rehearses every Monday evening from 7.15pm - 9.15pm at Putney High Junior School, Lytton Grove, Putney. We currently have approximately 50 active members, with a range of musical ability, and we are always pleased to welcome new singers in all parts.
