Cirencester Eclectic Strings

Cirencester Eclectic Strings had a very successful concert recently at The Ashcroft Centre Cirencester. The varied programme started with Karl Jenkins Palladio and culminated in Vivaldi Concerto for 4violins with soloists from the group.
The packed audience were delighted by the varied programme and joined the players in refreshments after the concert.
This orchestra is developing fast under the baton of Nick Steel.
One member of the audience said
‘We thoroughly enjoyed the performance yesterday. I've added 3 of the pieces you performed to my playlist. We thought the Vivaldi was sublime.”
Its next concert is on Sunday12th April at 6pm at The Corinium Museum when it will be sure to delight again!!

With the autumn fast approaching we welcome new members. Have you got a string instrument in a cupboard that needs playing and would you like new challenge.

We are an enthusiastic string orchestra in Cirencester, drawing violin, viola, cello and bass players from Gloucestershire and beyond. who enjoy an eclectic range of music from baroque to Bartok .. We are very lucky to have a fun and charismatic new conductor, Nick Steel

Our last Concert at The Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre in July was another great success and performed to a large audience.
Our mix of eclectic string music was enhanced with woodwind players . 2 oboes playing a Vivaldi concerto for 2 oboes and then joining in with us to accompany Heather who played the Elvira Madigan theme from Mozart's piano concerto no 21.
The surprise piece of music was the finale - 3 movements from Saint Saens Carnival of Animals (arranged Andrew Hodges) with a contra- bassoon solo from Tim Cambray. This brought the concert to a fine conclusion.

The Spring Showcase was a triumph!!!
The group performed to a full house at The Corinium Museum one of the highlights being an amazing performance of the Vivaldi double violin concerto by Kathryn and Tina. Watch this space for our next performance!!
