Not long now to marvel at the full array of subject matters and styles mastered by the incredible artist Theodore Major.

Tucked away in the Major family archive since the artists death 26 years ago, we are proud to be showcasing a collection of previously unseen works throughout September in our Cheshire and Lancashire galleries.

The exhibition officially opens to the public in Wilmslow, Cheshire, this Friday 11th September and in our Heskin, Lancashire, gallery on 26th September.

Don’t miss the opportunity to view these awesome works by one of the North of England’s most important twentieth century artists.

Celebrating the arrival of Autumn with this beautiful bronze sculpture by Tim Cotterill.

John Atkinson Grimshaw was born in Leeds in 1836. 🌙✨

Famous for his atmospheric paintings of northern cities including Liverpool, Glasgow and Hull, Grimshaw captured streets, docks and quays bathed in twilight or moonlight. His paintings are celebrated for their striking use of light.

In this artwork, Liverpool Quay by Moonlight 1887, Grimshaw captures the warm golden glow spilling from shop windows, softened by the fog and reflected across the wet cobbles. Look closely and you'll also spot the glint of light catching the back of a horse-drawn carriage as it travels down the street.

Amanda Hughes-Lubeck is a British sculptor renowned for her bronze equestrian and wildlife artworks. Trained at the prestigious Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture, and went on to work at Royal Doulton for almost ten years.

Working predominantly in bronze and clay, Hughes-Lubeck is best known for her dynamic depictions of horses, animals, and commemorative subjects. Her sculptures combine realism with movement and emotional depth, capturing both the physical power and spirit of her subjects.

Throughout her career she has completed major commissions including portraits of Queen Elizabeth II’s riding pony Emma, sculptures of the legendary racehorse Red Rum, and public artworks such as The Tree of Life for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
