Pottery Painting and Ceramics Café The Alabaster Jar is an independently run paint-your-own-pottery studio in Chorley, Lancashire.

We provide a relaxing and friendly atmosphere where you can come and spend some quality time painting bespoke pottery products for your home or loved ones. We also sell Take Away Kits so you can continue the fun at home too. Finished items take a week to be fired before it's ready for collection, so if it's for a special occasion, be sure to leave yourself enough time. We don’t take bookings other

than for our party packages and late night openings, so call in whenever you're free and spend as long as you like painting with us. We do recommend however, to call ahead for groups of 6+ to ensure we have a table large enough to seat you all together. Please note that during busy periods such as weekends and school holidays there may be a wait before being seated. We are located on a residential street, so please be mindful of our neighbours when choosing a parking space and consider car-sharing wherever possible. If you are able, we would discourage parking on Hindley Street to reduce any inconvenience to our neighbours.

If you need to collect your finished items before we re-open on Saturday 17th January you can do so (just give us a knock) but please be sure to have your ticket number to hand as we won't have any of our databases switched on to be able to find your order details.

Don't forget to collect your beautiful creations!

All items are ready for collection one week from the date they are painted and we will only call you if there is a delay with your item, so if you painted more than a week ago and you've not heard from us then your pieces are fired and ready to collect.

We store items for 3 months before disposing of them, but if you know you won't be able to make it before the deadline please get in touch and we can arrange an extension.

Our last day of trade before our Christmas closure will be Sunday 21st December (11am - 4pm) so don't leave it too late to come for your handmade gifts and Christmas keepsakes.

We're fully booked for our pottery painting session at this coming Tuesday, and we're also fully booked for our 2 remaining adult only MY TIME evenings of the year. If you missed out on all the fun this time, don't worry - we're now taking bookings for next year! You can find the dates of all our 2026 adult only MY TIME evenings on our website www.thealabasterjar.co.uk under the 'Late Nights' tab. We don't have any dates yet for any offsite events but we'll advertise them here when we do, so keep checking back in!

We're looking forward to seeing lots of you on Tuesday 9th (at ) and here in the studio on 4th & 17th. And we'll look forward to seeing many more of you next year at one of the 15 MY TIMEs we have organised, plus more fun nights out as we sort them.

Pottery Painting at the Pub!

When: Tuesday 9th December, 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Where: The Wayfarer, Parbold

What: A cosy night of pottery painting in the most beautiful of pub settings

We’re looking forward to returning for another evening of pottery painting in the superbly refurbished . We’ll be bringing some Christmassy things with us, plus some all-year-round classics for those who don’t want to think about Christmas just yet. Why don’t you make a proper night of it and treat yourself to a delicious meal from their mouthwatering menu either before you start painting, or whilst you work (last orders for food is at 8:30pm).

Pictured are some of the pieces we’re hoping to bring (whilst stocks last) so there will be plenty to choose from on the night. We hope to be able to bring some plates with us too, but due to a supply issue we can’t guarantee we will receive any in time.

Booking is essential so call the studio on 01257 274690 to reserve your spaces. A £10 deposit per person will be taken at the time of booking but this will be deducted from your bill on the night. All finished items will be ready to collect from The Wayfarer, Parbold on Friday 19th December.

Don't forget if you've not yet collected your items from The Great Pottery Hoedown at the end of August, your items are ready and waiting for you at The Wayfarer, Parbold.

We'd like to say a massive thank-you to and for inviting us along to their Wafsville Festival, we had an amazing time. And thank-you to all those who painted with us that weekend, we hope you will cherish your keepsakes from a fantastic weekend.

We'll be heading back to The Wayfarer on Wednesday 12th November for some more pottery painting fun so watch this space for more details.

The evening runs between 6pm and 9pm but don't worry if you can't come for the whole time, your deposit secures your space for the whole night so it's ok to be fashionably late!
