Love to Learn – Knitting & Crochet at Avant Garden Centre

Fancy learning to knit or crochet, picking it back up after a few years, or simply spending a lovely relaxed morning crafting with other woolly people?

Our Craft Shedquarters Love to Learn Knitting & Crochet workshops are now running twice a month at Avant Garden Centre in Leyland, with Dymphna teaching knitting and Lisa teaching crochet.

September dates:
Friday 11 September – 10am–1pm
Friday 25 September – 10am–1pm

Come along once, or join us for both and make it your regular crafty morning. Complete beginners are very welcome, as are those who already knit or crochet and would just like some help, encouragement and company.

£18 – session only, if you already have your kit
£25 – session plus a Knitting or Crochet Starter Kit

Starter Kits include everything you need to get going, plus access to our private Facebook group with step-by-step video tutorials, hints, tips and ongoing help.

A few of us are already at The Golden Lion getting excited about this year's Higher Wheelton Christmas Display.

Our first Higher Wheelton Christmas Display 2026 planning meeting is tonight.

Whether you can knit, crochet, sew, bake, organise, fundraise, put up displays, or just fancy getting involved, we'd love to see you.

Last year we raised £1,303.80 for Derian House and St Catherine's Hospice. Let's make this year's display even bigger and better!

Could you help make Higher Wheelton's Christmas Display even more special this year?

Last year our very first Christmas Display brought the village together and raised an amazing £1,303.80 for Derian House and St Catherine's Hospice. We'd love to do it all again this Christmas – and we'd love a few more people to get involved.

We're holding a friendly planning meeting on:

Tuesday 14th July
7.30pm
The Golden Lion, Higher Wheelton

Please don't think you have to commit to lots of work. You might have an idea to share, be able to spare an hour now and then, help at an event, put up posters, bake a cake, spread the word, or simply come along to see what it's all about. Every little bit of help makes a difference.

We're also hoping to involve more local schools, Scouts, Brownies, Guides and community groups, so if you have any connections, we'd love to hear from you.

If you'd like to help create something that brings a smile to the village while raising money for two wonderful local charities, we'd love to see you on the 14th. Everyone is very welcome.

Operation: Deliver the Subscription Boxes is well underway!

For the last two days I've been making regular trips to the parcel depot, filling York after York with Craft Shedquarters subscription boxes. I think the depot staff are starting to recognise me now. At this rate they'll be reversing the biggest wagon onto the bay every time they see me coming... or maybe Royal Mail just needs a lorry with "Craft Shedquarters" written down the side!

We really hope you love this box as much as we've loved putting it together. There's been a lot of planning, packing and excitement behind the scenes, and we can't wait for you to open it.
