Join us for a day of profound peace and reflection as we explore Advent’s themes of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through the sacred art of Gregorian Chant. This retreat, guided by the O Antiphons, invites us to prepare our hearts for the coming of Emmanuel—God with us.
Using the rich, ancient tradition of sacred chanting, participants will experience a meditative journey through Advent’s hopeful waiting. The O Antiphons are not only chants but profound prayers, each illuminating a different aspect of Christ’s identity: Wisdom, Lord, Root of Jesse, and Emmanuel. These titles invite us to encounter the sacredness of the season and to cultivate a sense of peace, purpose, and spiritual readiness for Christmas.
Sacred Chanting
Sacred chanting is a genre rooted in spiritual traditions around the world, with Gregorian chant being one of its most enduring forms. Originating in medieval Christian monasteries, Gregorian chant is characterized by its monophonic texture, Latin lyrics, and serene modal melodies, all designed to inspire a contemplative state and connect us with the divine. This retreat offers participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in these transformative sounds, experiencing sacred chanting as both prayer and spiritual practice.
