I really should get back on the wheel... but while I’m stalling, I keep drifting over to the latest batch. I can’t help picking up a mug or vase now and then-the new glaze just feels so good!

New glaze is almost there! Perhaps a little more frit to help with the melt at 1200°c but it's coming out as such a nice egg shell/satin glaze right now! 😍

The last few batches of my stone blue glaze out of the kiln, I'll definitely be holding on to the recipe for future makes, such a nice blue!

New glaze has came out fantastic! I'd say it needs perhaps 2% more frit to help with the melt at cone 6 but I'm so happy with the results so far! My very own speckled white! 😍

Love how the blue of this glaze works with other colours. In this case, the soft yellow of a dry flower I pinched from my wife's bunch of flowers (quickly returning it after). 😁

Really loving the simplicity of these forms. There's definitely a need for handles on larger pieces but this size allows for notches/simplicity 😊

Testing the base glaze out with titanium. Not only does it brighten the blue slightly but makes a brilliant white without my colorants.

One piece I've always found daunting is a teapot, mainly due to the various components that make up the whole. The body, handle, spout and lid. I've finally got around to giving it a go though and I'm actually quite happy with the result. Oh and it pours!

That said, a few things I've definitely learnt for next time:
- I need to remove some 'bulk' to it. In my mind it's just a bit too heavy.
- The handle needs rethinking, it works, but could be positioned better.
- A smaller spout.
- Slightly different angle to the spout to allow for more liquid.

Huge thank you to Mr for the inspiration!

Now that the journey of creating my own glaze is coming to an end (still discovering variations/behaviours), it's quite nice to focus more on functionality.

My avoidance of handles is promoting 'anchor points', the process of adding attachments to pieces that allow for ease of use in place of handles. In this case, instead of having to grip the piece, you're able to simple rest a finger beneath the attachment to pour.

Yes, I hate pulling handles this much.

Early on on my glaze testing I would get so frustrated when dipping a piece for it then to drip unevenly whilst drying. I'd spend far too long trying to smooth off excess glaze to get a uniform finish.

Turns out, I quite like when the glaze drips, like on this piece, it gives it some texture and shows that it's a handmade piece.

Also, slowly becoming a custom to making handles, small wins!

Today I've truly learnt how much patience is sometimes required in pottery. After a huge number of tests, I feel like I've got a grip on my own glaze recipe, something to call my own (of course, it's inspired by work I've seen in the wild).

I've now got the task of scaling up my glaze to allow for dipping all the bisque fire pieces I have accumulated, hoping that I can follow the exact ratio necessary to replicate the stone blue in this piece.
