From the camouflaged forms of his Neutral works to the exposed material language of the Plastic series, Bordalo II asks us to look again at what we throw away, what we value, and what our habits leave behind.

Across cities worldwide, walls have started looking like portals. Painted, not projected. Architectural in their geometry, organic in their motion.

They are the work of Douglas Hoekzema, the Miami-based artist who paints under the name HoxxoH.

Trained in architecture before turning to street art, he has spent over a decade developing a hypnotic visual language that blends graffiti, abstraction, and optical illusion at the scale of a building.

“It’s a portal, vortex, worm hole, gateway, star gate,” Hoxxoh has said of the work.

Each one painted by hand, layered until the surface appears to move. From a distance, a vortex. Up close, a system of lines. Some artworks are made to be looked at. His are made to be stepped into.
