Today was a big day... my new electric wheelchair had its first test drive into Chesterfield town centre! 🎉

For the last 8 years I've mostly used a mobility scooter, but if I'm honest, I've never really got on with it. The lack of leg room always left me uncomfortable and in pain. I also have a manual wheelchair, but I've always struggled with feeling guilty that someone has to push me around.

This new chair still needs a helping hand getting in and out of the car, but once it's out, it's mine to control. Crossing the cobbles was so much easier, and for the first time in a long time I felt a little bit of freedom and independence return. 💜

I stuck to shops I knew would be accessible today, but maybe next time I'll be brave enough to tackle some of the tighter ones too!

After 8 years, I still find it difficult sometimes relying on mobility aids and other people. But today reminded me that mobility aids don't take away our independence, they help give it back. We all deserve to be a little kinder to ourselves and spend less time worrying about what strangers might think. And honestly? If you're curious, I'd much rather you ask me a question than stand there staring. 😹

Now for the really important question...

My camera roll is basically 95% cat content at this point... and honestly, I regret nothing. 😂

Every sticker, doodle, silly idea and tiny piece of cosy chaos starts with a cat somewhere 💜

Some of these furry faces are my own little sidekicks, some belong to friends, and some are forever loved cats who still inspire me every single day. From chaotic zoomies to sleepy loaf poses, dramatic stares and tiny weird habits… cats have a way of turning everyday moments into creative inspiration 😹

A lot of my designs are inspired by real personalities, real memories and the comfort these little fluffballs bring into our lives. Honestly, half the time they’re supervising my work… the other half they’re sitting directly on it 🐱

Without these whiskery muses, Crafty JuJu Designs probably wouldn’t exist in the same way it does today.

I’m Julie — the illustrator, cat mum and chaos creator behind Crafty JuJu Designs ✨

I thought it was time for a little updated “Meet the Maker” post for all the lovely new faces here!

Behind the stickers, stationery, pins and silly cat designs is just me, usually powered by tea, music, chronic illness survival mode… and at least one cat supervising everything I do 🐱

This little business started from my love of creating, comfort, cats and wanting to make people smile — especially on difficult days. What began as doodles inspired by my own cats slowly turned into a cosy little world full of cat-themed stickers, Mail Club, stationery, mystery packs, tote bags and tiny serotonin boosts for fellow cat lovers.

Creating has become such an important escape for me over the years. Living with chronic illnesses changed a lot about my life, but art gave me something positive to focus on again, and somehow these silly little cats ended up connecting me with the most wonderful community 💜

Does anyone else spend more time reorganising their stall display than actually sleeping before an event? 😭😂

I swear this pin board has had about 827 different layouts at this point…

Move one pin → everything suddenly looks wrong
Fix one section → destroy another section
Stand back dramatically → “wait no” 👀

BUT I think I’ve finally created a setup I’m happy with and honestly… seeing all the colourful cat chaos together makes my little stationery-loving brain so happy 🐱✨

Now please tell me I’m not the only small business owner constantly rearranging displays at midnight before events 🤣
