The Castle and Courts area.

Meet at the Courts entrance portico on the main road facing the Abode Hotel near the roundabout on Grosvenor Road. The locations include the entrance itself and its associated Court and Castle buildings, and the lovely landmark St Mary's Church to the rear at the top of St Mary's Hill, itself worth a visit and of course, the river is always nearby...

The location is about 10-15 minutes walk from the centre, and close to Little Roodee car park, as well as being a stop on the Wrexham Road P&R.

Join us for our monthly sketching morning on Tuesday 16th June 10.30am -12.30. This month we will meet outside Telfords Warehouse on the Shropshire Union Canal, CH1 4EZ. Lots to draw in the area and a great meeting place inside Telfords at 12.30. All welcome.

A reminder of our next meeting on Tuesday 19th May 10.30am -12.30. Meet outside Snugburys Ice Cream next to the Queens Park Suspension Bridge on the Groves. (Snugburys 4-6 The Groves, Chester CH1 1SD). (Usual organisers Julie & Vince may not be able to attend so if any regulars can take the lead that would be great.)

A great turnout and super location this morning. What an amazing variety of subjects and styles (feel free to post more photos of your sketches, I didn't take as many as usual). No doubt the station is a location we will return to in future.

Our next meeting will be April 21st in Handbridge, just over the Old Dee Bridge. More details to follow.

Next Meeting: Chester Railway Station (Forecourt)
Tuesday 17 March 2026 from 1015 to 1230.
Our first visit to this very busy station with lots to sketch. We won't be going 'railside' but there are plenty of interesting buildings, including the station and adjacent hotels, and spaces within and without. There are some building works going on, so be aware of them, and the needs of travellers and staff. There are public loos, the refurbished Tap pub and a coffee outlet.
We will meet just outside the entrance, to the right, under the canopy, and have a throwdown in the refurbished Carriage Shed, through the gateway to the right, at 1230.
