In German-occupied France, café owner René Artois is once again swept into chaos
as he tries to help two British airmen escape while having to raise a fortune in compensation for the missing Fallen Madonna painting.
Surrounded by a cast of meddling Resistance members, scheming Germans, and eccentric locals—including the amorous Monsieur Alphonse, the baffling Officer Crabtree, and the love stricken Lieutenant Gruber - René’s world descends into classic farce. With money, forged notes, and even a bomb hidden inside identical camembert cheeses, it’s only a
matter of time before everything goes hilariously and explosively wrong.
Expect a few loud bangs, reductive sterotyping and middle aged men in their underwear.
CASTING - The cast features the usual suspects:
Rene: The beleaguered café owner
Edith: His long suffering wife
Yvette: His glamorous bit on the side
Mimi: His other (shorter) bit on the side.
F***y: His annoying bedridden mother in law
2 British Airman (who have a larger part in this production) - The thorns in Renes
side.
Leclerc: The master of disguise (or not as the case may be)
Monsieur Alphonse: Ardent admirer of Edith and the local undertaker.
Michelle: Still only saying things once.
Crabtree: Still saying things badly.
Colonel: Still sporting a wiglet
Capt. Geering: His dim-witted side kick
Helga: The ever passionate lover of Herr Flick
Herr Flick: the cold and dispassionate Gestapo officer
Lieutenant Gruber: Still pining to take Rene for a spin in his little tank.
General Von Klinkerhoffen: Freshly back from the Russian Front and demanding…
everything!
Also – a small selection of soldiers and peasants and radio voices.
Ages are flexible - it just needs to make sense logistically and visually
