We end day four with a brand new Champion 🏆🧪

Congratulations to Tony O’Sullivan, who wowed the judges with a lyrical three-minute performance and will now go on to represent the UK at the International Final 🇵🇱

This year’s finalists have been an absolute joy to watch, reminding us that science communication can be inspiring, entertaining and unforgettable ✨

Tonight’s final also carried special significance. The prizes were presented by the grandson of Frank Burnet, co-founder of Cheltenham Science Festival and the visionary behind FameLab - the world’s longest-running science communication competition 🔭

Frank’s legacy lives on through every curious mind that steps onto the FameLab stage and tonight felt like a fitting celebration of everything he helped create 💙

Congratulations to Tony, our finalists and everyone who continues to prove that science is for everyone 🥳

His answer? Keep it simple.

⚠️ Fair warning… this one involves body fat.

Turns out, when you’ve spent years cleaning up the unimaginable, you learn that the simplest solutions are often the best.

Today, 10 finalists will take to the stage and inspire in just 3 minutes 🧪✨

Ten outstanding science communicators from across the UK compete for the title of FameLab UK Winner 2026, each delivering fast-paced, unforgettable talks designed to inspire, intrigue and amaze.

An evening of big ideas, bold explanations and brilliant entertainment — hosted by hilarious local comedian and non-scientist ✨

Deciding this year’s winners are chemist Ijeoma Uchegbu, physicist Jeff Forshaw and writer Sascha Pare, with live entertainment from the one and only Stefan Gates 🌍

It’s a sold-out event this evening and we can’t wait to see who takes the win and goes on to represent the UK at the International Final 🏆

Before the big night, the finalists explored the Festival Village — taking on challenges in the Arcade and seeing if they could crack the codes set by GCHQ and HMGCC 👾🔐

Big ideas. Big stakes. Big science.
