Magpie Meets Womble; if Wombles had Wings!

26/06/2026

Instead of going to Atomicon in person last Tuesday, I did this instead.
I didn't watch anything live either, madness I know, right?

But not really, because I was taking the day steady and doing it my way. I've got a whole year to watch the replays.

Doing things my way to fit my energy and dare I say 'vibes for the day' is something I've fully embraced since leaving teaching.
No alarms to join the commute is probably the biggest factor that has levelled my cortisol levels!

But yesterday I joined the monthly Atomic Hive session, which I find invaluable.
It's an opportunity to sense check ideas or ask for feedback amongst other fellow business owners, in a really safe space.
Honestly, these sessions are worth the ticket alone.

Even though I'm not quite sure what'll be going on next July, I've bought my ticket and I'm already excited about the big Networking Week table discussions!

Today is the last day of the flash sale, and I have an affiliate code.
I should advise I do receive a small amount of money for this and I should also advise it is highly likely it will go towards dog treats.

What if wading through the messy middle was the exact journey to be on?

I’ve been resting… mostly.
Last week I was meant to travel to Atomicon and be a bit jazz hands.
But instead we had a really big life event happening instead.

I’ll tell you more about that later…

So instead I slowed down and reflected.

I’m in that messy middle where I know and want my business to evolve and feel more aligned.
Anyone willing to hold my hand please raise a paw 🐾

Oh blimey

I remember one of my favourite early art projects I taught before I trained, was the photo montage style of Hockney.
We all loved its simplicity yet brilliant complexity.
I think that’s a good way to be remembered, I wonder if he’d like that description.

I’ve enjoyed playing with the technique again in a digital format as my ode to
Mr H, although he’s been such a stalwart I feel like I know him as David.

I hope the stars are joyful and as colourful as his art.

Sometimes the visuals are the last thing on your mind.
Whacking a logo aligned left or centre stage just won’t cut it.

You've raced around getting everything out of your head and into your course or next big project, the thing that's been growing in your mind and building like a lego box on steroids... it's ready, but are you?

I can help give your words wings and let them fly the creative nest.
Raise a paw if you're kung foo fighting creative overwhelm and need my curious creativity in your corner.

Holy potatoes! šŸ„” šŸ„”

Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the Table Discussion about Creative Overwhelm.

Such a lovely way to start the day and listen to so many of you.

We determined the power of play and experimenting, how structure can help our ideas into a hierarchy and that if we say, write or doodle our ideas out loud, we are breathing life into them and that's how they grow wings and fly the nest.
Please feel free to drop your links into the comments as we didn't get a chance to do so as we were so busy chatting.

Here's the screenshot - I couldn't fit us all in!

Summer Cover might seem like a scary thought; handing over your content whilst you chillax.

But what if it helped you realise outsourcing is one less one-way ticket to burn out.

I have capacity to take on Summer Cover work if you're looking for support with:
your Social Media Content, plus Illustration for summer projects, workbooks, resources and Slide Decks.

Raise a paw if you need me 🐾

'Why am I talking to a computer when I’m normally talking to the trees?'

When you’re used to being outside, sitting at a computer feels, well, weird.

And if you're looking for inspiration inside when your passion lies outside, it just just doesn’t fit. You want your clients to connect with the outside but you’re stuck inside creating content or visuals and that is, to put it bluntly, doing your head in!

Then you're struck by creative overwhelm which means those visuals stay stuck in your head rather than out in the world.

Having a creative Magpie in your corner means no more lost ideas, especially when some businesses need to stray off the beaten track to truly find their way.

Hands up who wants human creativity āœ‹

[Helen's branded video shows her looking for something or using binoculars to look out at the viewer. The backgrounds are of a busy art room, then outdoor scenes to connect with busy outdoor inspired business owners.
The captions are incorporated into the main body of the post. the music is coincidently titled 'Crayons.']

My beautiful little boy is 20 today.

When I say little I actually mean about half a tonne, and when I say beautiful I mean TRULY beautiful.

Eight years of mud, sweat and tears, climbing hills, facing the wrong way, and knowing how very bloody lucky I am.
Horses are not always easy.
Winters are hard.
Summers are hot and full of flippin' flies!
But they are our sanctuary and at times make us question our sanity.

Horses teach us patience, quietness and resilience.
They are not for the faint-hearted, or for those who tire quickly of difficult days.
You also have to have some kind of affinity with mud and hair, and yes, usually more mud.

They teach us ways to work things out and how to collaborate.
They show us how good things comes to those who feel it hard, who don't get it right but learn to.

They make us show up every day and try, try and try again.
I think horses would know a great deal about being in business.

Happy Birthday Tommy; your soul is kind and your heart is huge 🧔

What's one thing in your life that is your sanctuary?
