We hope you enjoyed the summer, and are up for some comedy this week, now it’s reassuringly miserable again.

Another brilliant line-up awaits on Thursday 4th June, headlined by one of the finest comedians in the UK, the fantastic Jeff Innocent ("It should be made law that every British Citizen should go and see Jeff Innocent. He’s that funny" The Evening Standard)

Not only do we have Jeff, but a superb supporting line-up in the form of Paul F Taylor, Dave Chawner, Madeleine Brettingham and Patrick Brusnahan. All shambolically held together by resident MC Paul Merryck.

Hosted as always at our wonderful venue ACanteen, in the heart of Chelmsford City centre, where you can enjoy a great meal and/or a few drinks from the bar, whilst watching some of the finest comedians in the UK. 5 of them to be exact!

AComedy Club Chelmsford 4th June – Jeff Innocent returns!

Hello All

Summer is here, or it will be soon, probably, and we have one of our all-time favourites coming back to AComedy Club Chelmsford on 4th June after 2 years, our old friend and one of the finest comedians in the UK, the fantastic Jeff Innocent.

Here are some words about Jeff:

Multi award winning comedian Jeff Innocent has reached legendary status among his peers and audiences alike by staying at the top of his game for almost 3 decades.

His unique appeal lies in the contrast between his East End 'geezer’ appearance and demeanour, and his educated, philosophical delivery and culturally relevant subject matter.

Always original, he continues to cement his position within the history of British stand up comedians with his regular performances on the UK and world live comedy circuit and has recently acquired a whole new generation of fans, through his online viral video clips.
In 2024 Jeff embarked on his debut nationwide tour ‘Smart Casual’ at the age of 68 after having been a regular headliner on the UK comedy circuit for more than 27 years.

He is currently in the process of writing his next tour show and his debut special was released 27th March 2025.

AComedy Club’s 2026 schedule continues with a brilliant night of comedy at AComedy Club on 7th May, featuring one of the top comedians on the UK comedy circuit, with a superb supporting line-up of established professional comedians and new talents on the verge of breaking through.

Headlining the show we have the amazing comedian that is Laura Lexx (“A Joy…Roars of Laughter” The Independent “My New Favourite Comedian” The Scottish Daily Mail). Also on the bill we have top-notch support from Jason Patterson, Thenjiwe, Elaine Fellows and Daniel Tizon. All shambolically held together by resident MC Paul Merryck.

We have a new headliner for our June show following Laura Smyth having to pull out (we'll get her back next year)

AComedy Club’s 4th June show is now headlined by an absolute comedy all-rounder, known as Charlie Baker.

Charlie’s versatile talents as a stand-up comedian, actor, and highly acclaimed jazz singer have earned him a reputation as ‘a superior take on the modern showman’ (The Guardian). On screen, he has appeared in countless shows including The Last Leg, Harry Hill’s Tea Time, Comedy Central at the Comedy Store, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Richard Osman’s House of Games, Pointless Celebrities, and Channel 4’s Comedy Gala. As a tap dancer, he won Let’s Dance for Comic Relief.
Winner of the FSA Award for Radio Show of the Year two years running, Charlie can be heard on talkSPORT every Saturday on GameDay Warm-Up, as well as covering weekdays on Hawksbee & Jacobs. He’s also a regular on The Football’s On and The Premier League Show. Charlie is the narrator of Motorway: Hell on the Highway, and the station voice of Radio X on the Global Radio network.

Matt spent much of 2025 supporting Ricky Gervais on his World Tour, and we’re absolutely sure he’s going to be absolutely massive, and you’re going to love him.

With January almost out of the way, we’re coming out of hibernation and getting the show back on the road for another year of top comedy in Chelmsford City Centre

And what a start we have at AComedy Club on Thursday 5th February.
