I had loads of fun creating this Polynesian inspired piece for my client Tommy. We snuck a loved one’s fingerprint into the design while still keeping to the island tribal aesthetic.

Over the years, and the more I learn about tattooing, the more I find myself drawn to this type of work. I love a tattoo that can be seen and understood from across a room, and this style definitely has that going for it.

If anyone would like any Māori or Polynesian inspired tattoos, I’d love to do more!

This may just look like a turtle and wave tattoo, but it actually has a hidden meaning.

My client wanted a representation of the mental health apostrophe symbol without it being obvious. The turtle represents the dot, and the wave represents the comma at the bottom.

To you or I, this looks like a turtle and a wave, but to her, it means much more than that.
