Today was once again a deeply sad day as we gathered for the funeral of our dear friend Andrew Gilling.
Andrew was not only a fine second tenor but also one of the choir’s longest standing members, having joined us back in 1996. He was a true stalwart — always one of the first to volunteer whenever help was needed, always dependable, always kind. His commitment to the choir took him far and wide, singing with us on tours to Jamaica, Norway, Italy, and as part of the 900 voices at the Royal Albert Hall in 2008.
In this recording, the Cheddar Male Choir performs Malotte’s 'The Lord’s Prayer'. Andrew joked, “If you play this, I’ll be singing at my own funeral,” a moment of humour that stayed with us, reflecting the warmth and wit he kept right to the end.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Andrew’s family and friends. His immense contribution to the Cheddar Male Choir will never be forgotten, and his presence will be deeply missed by us all.

Today was a deeply sad day as we gathered for the funeral of our dear friend Adam Travis.
Adam was not only a superb second tenor but also one of the founding members of the choir back in 1995. His musical talent shone in everything he did — especially as a soloist — and he featured in several of our performances over the years. In this video, the song You Raise Me Up includes his powerful and beautifully delivered solo lines, a reminder of the strength and character of his voice.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Adam’s family and friends. His immense contribution to the Cheddar Male Choir will never be forgotten, and his presence will be greatly missed by us all.

Cheddar Male Choir is proud to have donated nearly £880 to Weston Hospicecare, following a wonderfully well supported fundraising concert.
A full audience packed into Draycott Memorial Hall to enjoy an evening of music from the choir, joined by the superb soloist Kate Eastment. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the generosity shown on the night will make a real difference to the hospice and the families they support.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, sang, supported, donated, and helped make the event such a success. This was community spirit at its best.
