We're excited to share that our choir director Karen Reeves-Toppin will be coordinating and teaching the At One With Nature Pop‑Up Choir, taking place at Rochester Cathedral on Saturday 10th October.

This beautiful event celebrates our world through music, culture, geography and community storytelling, and we’re inviting singers to join us for the finale! If you love singing and have a bit of experience performing, come and be part of something special.

We’re building a four‑part harmony choir, so male voices are very welcome.

Rehearsals:
Thurs 8th Oct, 7.30–9pm — St Luke’s Methodist Church
Sat 10th Oct — Rochester Cathedral (time TBC)
Performance: Sat 10th Oct, 5–7.30pm

The Women In Business Radio Show Women in Business Big Show yesterday was a different kind of experience, and a reminder of why representation in unexpected spaces matters.

From being thoroughly amused by the warm welcome of our Medway MP Harinder Singh (ask him about the orange pedicure proudly gifted by his 4 year old!) to having meaningful conversations with those who paused long enough for me to capture their attention, it became clear that many had never connected the dots between “choir” and community transformation. Our presence genuinely sparked new thinking.

Karen Reeves-Toppin arrived in full uniform, set our stand up with help from our volunteer, and stood ready to champion Medway Can Sing Community Choir CIC. While many people didn’t approach us at first, it didn’t stop the impact we made throughout the day.

A lot of people walked past initially because “they can’t sing”. So she stepped forward, greeted passers by, shared our story, and watched perceptions shift. You see we aren't JUST a choir; we’re a community organisation delivering on social prescribing referrals, managing wellbeing projects, and supporting both youth and the youthful at heart.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteer - daughter of Oluwamayowa Oyinloye - Praise Oyinloye, who was an absolute powerhouse all day.

Finally, Thank you to everyone who supported our work by participating in our raffles. Hearty congratulations to all the prize winners!

An early start, a full day of connection, defeating the initial invisibility, and a scenic ride home. A good day, a necessary day, and yes – I’d do it again.

MedFringe has been an unforgettable experience, and we're so glad we got to be part of it in its fullest - not just from the audience, but through hosting our own event.

Arts & Harmonies: The Games Edition was the perfect way for us to close the festival. Our attendees were split into two teams: "The Treble Makers" and "The Harmony Hustlers". 😁😂 Meanwhile, the Games Master - Rob Reid, Quiz Mistress Vicky Kilby and our choir director Karen Reeves-Toppin took their rightful places as "The Beat Bosses".

Both teams were warned not to cheat… or risk being renamed “The Table That DEFINITELY Cheats.” (They behaved. Mostly. 🤣)

It was SUCH a fun evening! From music theory terminology to finishing lyrics, naming songs, song associations, lyrical interpretive dancing, “grab the mic” moments and more - every round cranked up the excitement for the next one.

And we learnt things too! Like how many strings are on a full-sized harp… and that there is indeed a song with both “bless” and “telephone” in the lyrics.

Prizes included a complete phone care and charging adaptive system, personal care items, jewellery and home décor - a proper mix of treats for our champions.

Here are some snapshots and for you to enjoy. Huge thanks to Ron Riddell, Sharon Jackson and David Stokes Hcf for collaborating to bring us this marvellous festival. Thank you also to the team at Holcombe Sports Club for making our time at the venue very comfortable. It was brilliant!

Medway has a new pre‑teen/teen singing organisation and we are ready to take the towns by storm!

MaSo Uplift! (Medway Adolescent Singing Organisation) made their debut performance launching the MKL (Medway & Kent Lens) Exhibition at the Halpern Gallery in Chatham.

Watched by parents and local officials, they were a little shy, but for a group who had never sung together before, and for some who were singing in a choir for the very first time, they excelled. We are VERY proud of them.

This is an unfunded charitable work of Karen Reeves-Toppin and Medway Can Sing Community Choir CIC, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us so far:

• Southern Print Services for the beautiful uniform T‑shirts
• Choir members who sponsored shirts
• The Black Art Hub CIC for entrusting this important event to a new and emerging group
• Leigh Academy Strood Academy for giving us the time, unwavering support and space to tutor these students
• Parents for their support & cooperation

We’ve only just begun, and we’re excited to take MaSo Uplift! across Medway. If you believe in giving young people safe, joyful spaces to thrive, we’d love to partner with you, whether through financial support or by helping us build this youth movement.
