Excited to share that Branch Arts are running a new Artscaping Mentoring course for creatives! After 25 years working with artists and organisations, it felt like a natural progression to formulate workshops and individual modules that can really support artists to develop their career.

Working directly with artists goes hand-in-hand with my main work as an art consultant where I curate collections through galleries I love working with; direct from artist studios and to commission.

More about Artscaping…over the last year, we’ve designed six modules that break it down into reaching commercial success; crafting your narrative and developing your artistic practice. We’ve started with the 4 Pillar’s for Commercial Success which digs into the nuts & bolts of the art industry because we all know, breaking into the art world can be daunting. Protecting headspace to paint or create is one thing but to then try and navigate a ‘career’ opens a whole new set of choices.

On Tuesday 4th March, I’m running the Writing Your Artist Narrative workshop at Chloes in Charlbury. Join us! DM to book your slot!

As part of our 'Recommended Artist' pages, we are delighted to introduce Laura Middleton. Working in oils, watercolours and inks, Laura’s work is very adapt at taking the viewer to a different place – one where water and reflection celebrates nature’s changing seasons.

“My constant aim within the paintings is trying to create a sense of another place - to see the world bigger than it is. If you could wear Van Gogh’s goggles for a day, I think he saw things that were bigger than our perception. I believe if you allow yourself to paint things beyond your perception – there are colours out there you don’t understand, there's a complexity of a place, beyond your comprehension. In a way, you have to free flow. I really love painters like Edvard Monk, Van Gogh and Emelie Nold, and obviously Monet, because they had an amazing way of communicating that ‘other’.” Laura Middleton

This short film shows Laura in her Wilcote studio. We have a number of NEW pieces offered for sale on our website. Do get in touch if you are interested. She also works to commission.

The exhibition, Reflection on Light has been extended to include this weekend, Friday 26th + Saturday 27th April. Open from 11 am - 6 pm we are so pleased with how well the show has been received by both local supporters and visitors from afar.

We've hosted over 1,000 people and enjoyed talks by artists, architects and master craft makers. Sharing the creative atmosphere of Gothic House and watching faces as they look from the show to the garden has been inspirational. It works... putting art in a domestic setting. It's how we live with art. It's how we love art.

I hope you can make it - this weekend. If you wanted a catalogue please get in touch.

Save the Date - 21 September
Andrew Lawson | Plant Portraits
Yarnton Home + Garden

The first in a series of collaborations between Branch Arts and Yarnton Home and Garden, Andrew Lawson | Plant Portraits celebrates the unique characters and lives of plants. In this series of photographs, award-winning photographer, and Susie’s father, Andrew explores the colours and forms that fill our gardens, opening up fresh perspectives on some of our best-loved plants and flowers.

Andrew is a passionate gardener himself - he started gardening at school, aged 10, and has looked after gardens ever since. It is this lifetime's familiarity with the natural world that make his plant portraits so vivid and perceptive. From the architectural armour of a succulent to the gentle unfurling of a fern or the formal beauty of a calla lily, each portrait offers a considered observation that brings its subject alive.

Exhibition, Talks and Online Preview from 21st September 2022 at Yarnton Home + Garden.

Annabel Stringer curates...

Annabel recently joined our shared working space and has brought her knowledge of all-things interiors and instinctive sense of colour and form into our lives. Branch invited Annabel to select a group of works for a summer hang at The Studio, Charlbury.

Her choices range from figurative to abstract and balance elegant monochrome with bursts of colour. Featuring works by Jelly Green, Alf Löhr, Alex Merritt, Ruth Miemczyk and Andrew Lawson, the show celebrates some of the talented artists working with Branch Arts and offers an insight into how to pair works and build a cohesive collection.

Works for sale from £500 through to £5,000. Pictured here works by Alf Löhr, Alex Merritt and Andrew Lawson. Give us a ring to arrange a viewing or check it out link in heading.

Annabel has moved the Stringer Interiors HQ to Charlbury and will continue to focus on residential and commercial projects in London, West Oxfordshire and beyond. We love having her in our office.
