Nice to see the Ooser at the Dorset County Museum today with my son for scale! The earliest known mention of the Dorset Ooser appears in an account of an accident involving a Quaker and its horns in 1656.

A jolly wassail!

The Brighton Mummers are co-hosting with Brighton Permaculture 'A Sussex Howl' this Saturday - a wassail celebration starting at Hollingdean community orchard, behind Surestart Centre, Brentwood Road, BN1 at 4pm with a torchlit walk over the hills to Stanmer Park. Arriving at old orchard behind stanmer nurseries around 6.30pm to crown the King & King if the wassail, wake the trees & process to Home Farm orchard near the church for a large fire, songs, stories and general merriment making. Bring something to bang to wake the trees, torches/lanterns, donations for veg stew & cider, good warm clothes & sturdy footwear.
