in aid of CANCER RESEARCH UK

"The Frisson Syndicate - Formed by principal members Marcus Hood and Michelle Cottee in November 2023. Following the recruitment of bassist Matt Stott, they secured their first supporting gig in March 2024 at The Crystal Ship Earith and again later that summer at their beer festival. After rapidly adding a host of new songs to their repertoire, they were soon able to perform full sets at local pub/club and festivals in the area. In the meantime Marcus and Michelle were asked to run a regular Open Mic night at The Crystal Ship with great success in promoting new and existing talent!
Notable gigs include; Buckfest, Haddenham Beer Festival, Somersham Carnival, and Cambridgeshire County Show in 2025 and again in 2026.
The band are comfortable playing as a duo as well as a trio. More recently recruited guest Syndicate members Tim and Mike (bass and cajon) from Michelle’s originals band Fenland B***y.
For this gig, The Frisson Syndicate will perform as a 4 piece and feel honoured and excited to be invited to play at this year’s arts festival"

Steve Strawhead is a Cambridgeshire based award-winning singer and guitarist known for delivering classic pop rock and country covers from throughout the decades. A top-five finalist in Boom Radio’s “One More Dream” 2026 cover artist competition and winner of NewDawnFM’s “Jukebox Judgment” in 2024, he brings proven talent and crowd appeal to every performance.
If not booked to play his original songs then his extensive catalogue of crowd-pleasing songs -from Elvis to Oasis, Stereophonics and even ABBA - keeps audiences entertained all night and the bar busy, encouraging regular trips for drinks while he delivers his set in a uniquely captivating style. Steve also has a natural knack for reading the room, selecting the right songs at exactly the right moment to keep the energy flowing and the crowd fully engaged. Using a stomp box kick drum and harmony pedal, he creates a rich, full sound that feels more like a one-man trio than a solo act.

Steve has performed at some of the region’s most respected venues, including Peterborough favourites The Shed, The Ostrich, Charters and The Brewery Tap, as well as The Junction in Cambridge. Mawson’s Folly is a Cambridgeshire based experimental folk duo whose music is inspired by life and events. Their most recent release, Square Wheels, has been described as a folk pop protest song. Their music has been featured on BBC Radio and received support from local radio stations including Black Cat Radio, Cambridge 105fm and Ouse Valley Radio. They record their music at the award winning local studio, Vertical Rooms, where music producer Pete Brazier sprinkles musical magic dust. Mawson’s Folly, Helen and Tim, regularly play live around the Cambs, Beds and Herts where they play many of their instruments and sometimes, add a backing track of their own music to add an interesting twist to their live performance.
