Discover the delicate and meditative art of Kinusaiga in a relaxed, hands on session designed for all levels.

Originating from Japan, Kinusaiga is a unique technique where small pieces of fabric are gently tucked into a prepared surface to build a detailed, textured image; all without stitching. It is a slow, thoughtful process that invites you to focus on colour, composition and placement.

In this workshop, you will be guided step by step to create your own design, exploring how different fabrics interact to form depth, contrast and softness. Whether you are drawn to subtle, tonal palettes or more vibrant combinations, each piece evolves gradually as the layers come together.

There is no pressure to rush or perfect; the process itself is part of the experience. It is about taking time, working with your hands, and enjoying the quiet rhythm of making.

This session is designed to feel calm, welcoming and creative; a space to unwind, try something new, and leave with something truly unique.

Batik with Sharmina 🎨

Experience the ancient art of Batik in this beginner friendly workshop!

Using a cold wax-resist dyeing technique to create beautiful intricate patterns on fabric, Sharmina will guide you through the process to produce your own unique piece of art to take home.

ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Our biggest goal when setting up CCR was to give Caterham a venue where everyone can access the arts. We wanted to provide a social space to create, whilst also providing local artists with the highest wage we can manage (whilst staying afloat ourselves)!

Sell out events like the last couple of hair workshops we’ve held mean we’re able to keep the cost per person low.

That’s why we’re able to take our ‘Early Bird’ offer and keep it for all future hair workshop sales 🫶 we hope this keeps these workshops accessible to as many of you as possible, so that all parents and children in the community can access if they want to.

Tickets will therefore stay at £20pp! Our next dates are now live and can be booked on our website but don’t delay as the last two had waiting lists…

Curious about crochet but not sure where to start? This relaxed and friendly two-week workshop is the perfect introduction. Designed especially for beginners. You’ll learn the essential skills you need to get started and gain the confidence, working towards making your first granny square.
