Morning.

What better way to cheer up a miserable wet day than an unexpected & surprise visit from your best mate from Secondary School!
Lovely.

You may not quite believe this, but its true its true, Jeff talks more than me.
It was a wonderful surprise and I am grateful.
Thanks to all who called in yesterday and to the gentleman from Greenock for taking the picture.

Dum Tempus Habemus.

Morning.
I'm not a wildlife photographer I dont have the patience or desire to sit in a hide.....and wait and wait. Not for me.
But I love nature.
This young siskin was having forty winks on the edge of our bird bath last night.....oblivious obviously to the fact we have a resident sparrowhawk. I missed him sleeping.... he'd just woken up.
Second image is what happens if you leave patches for nature on your lawn.....it is pretty incredible to see what grows if left alone.
Comparing activity between cut and left alone is remarkable.
Bullfich, goldfinch and increasingly rare greenfinch have all shown-up to nibble on seedheads and insects therein.
All rather great....abd enjoyable to watch.

In other news its a gallery day and youd be welcome here.
Here til 4pm

Morning friends.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself.
Here I am nineteen years into my newest career: gallery owner.
How?
How did this all happen? I'm not really sure.
But it has.
And every day I am surrounded by, and absorbing, great art and great people.
Blessed.
Each artist here is quality. I was asked last week how I select the art & artists here.
Phew.
I didn't and don't really know......the best I can come up with is that 'I trust my tummy'.
That's not really artistically scientific but its my truth.
If art moves my tummy, my instinct, then I trust it.
Chances are I don't always get it right.....but isn't that life?

My tummy likes all the art-work here, I have a content tummy.

The work shared here is very pleasing....shapes, form, detail, 'colour' with a nod to the past but an eye on today.
I really enjoy it.
Oil paintings shared are by Langholm artist Philip Gunn

Quality.

Here today til 4pm.

A lovely day here yesterday as we move inexorably towards the longest day of the year.

Yep, yesterday was lovely.....which got me thinking.....I have no grand masterplan for the gallery.....after nineteen years it simply is what it is.
It has no 'bells & whistles' no clever social media wizardry, it doesnt say yes when it means no and definitely no plans of domination.....I just try to make it a nice (nothing wrong with 'nice', imo), welcoming and a place people might want to return to.

Thats it!
Enjoy Thursday

Morning.

A day-off yesterday. So Joe & I went for a long walk round the loch, approx 8 miles. 'Walking' is perhaps not the right word when out with Joe.....a slow run might be more apt.
I walk fast Joe bloody gallops!
But it was an uplifting kinda walk....despite the drenching we received.
Serenaded as we were by the Nightingale of the north....the Blackcap...for most of the journey.
We also tried to name as many different plants as we could.....a bewildering list with many unknowns.
Sometimes walking in the rain is just right.....it was just right yesterday.
Not sure the images broadcast the broodingness (is that a word?) of the sky. I believe there were hailstones nearby too.
Flaming June!

Here and open today, you'd be most welcome.

Morning to you from here.

Hoping for some more decent weather like we had two weeks ago.....the last week has been tiresome, loved only by the midges & ducks.
It will improve.

Here today and youd be welcome.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Morning to you.

Lets just say we had some rain....and leave it there.

There is always the warmth of the gallery though fine cakes, hot chocolates and the glory of art.
Exemplified here by the rare quality of Grahame Young's work.
His vibrant capture of history on the Solway are simply wonderful.
There is fine art here!
