SongWave Choir SongWave is a community choir of around 55 based in Castle Douglas. We sing for the fun of singing.

Under the direction of our excellent musical director, Kate Howard, we sing mainly four part harmony songs, unaccompanied, and in a variety of languages and styles and without the aid of files to better communicate with our audiences. Known for our enthusiasm and joy of singing many of us were formerly members of the well known and well loved Feral Choir but were relaunched as SongWave in September 2021 following the departure of former musical director Ali Burns. We have already had our first outing with sister choir Cairn Chorus to herald the recent visit of Storm to Dumfries.

Our new venue for this term will be the Church/church hall in Queen Street, Castle Douglas but we will gather for our all day on August 29th at Kirkpatrick Durham Village Hall from 10.30am - 4.00pm. Drinks will of course be provided but please bring food to share - you know the drill!

Our rehearsals will start on Tuesday September 8th - October 13th and October 27th to December 8th from 7.00pm - 9.00pm.

Our concerts are planned for the weekend of December 11th - 13th with venues yet to be confirmed.

Pete Morton is a singer and entertainer who is often referred to as an old time troubadour. He delivers an unruly freewheeling mix of storytelling, comedy and song that weaves its way around the folk tradition. His current show 'The Ghost of a Sailor's talking blues' is a joyful ramble through time (not necessarily in the right order), in the style of the talking blues, as well as unleashing popular singalong chorus from the last 400 years.
