To get in flow and stretch those creatine muscles.

To laugh and to experiment without fear or pressure to make something perfect or "get it right".

And that's what the Crappy Crafts Club is all about.

It's a about play.

It's about fun.

It's about enjoying time for yourself.

No pressure.

Today we enjoyed a very enjoyable wander around the Cumbria Wildlife Trust Gosling S**e site.

What a beautiful and calm space for a nature walk and next time we will explore the wetlands nearby.

I'm feeling very inspired for future Wild Colour Creations and our Home Ed projects so watch this space.

One of my favourite things about our Home Ed Art Club is how comfortable the kids feel to be themselves.

There's no need to mask how they feel, what they say or what they create.

Today was messy, loud and full of laughter and I genuinely love that.

I especially love this knowing what these amazing kids have been through in toxic school environments and the broken education system.

I feel so deeply that all children should have access to spaces that they feel safe in to be themselves and hopefully reignite a love of creativity and learning.

I hope to continue to provide this space for them and all the other children who are no longer able to attend school.

Our Home Ed Art Club will be back at The Rebuild Site CIC on Wednesday 30th June.

What a lot of people don't realise is that when it came to deciding to home educated my child, we were left with only two options.

It was either to stay in the broken school system, fighting every single day just to get through the door, to then only have a "when available" support system in place.

To be punished with court appearances and school attendance fines for not being able to cope in an environment that was never designed for her.

The endless meetings and the parental blame as if I wasn't doing enough to make her attend settings she never felt safe in.

or

I removed her from the system entirely and educate her at home on our terms.

It's not been easy but it is a million times better than fighting a toxic education system that treat SEND kids like an inconvenience or like their distress through lack of support is some sort of choice. All while waiting years for ASD/ADHD assessments.

In the end it was an easy choice.

A choice that ultimately led to the correct professionals and receiving support that actually mattered.

Kids Make Stuff is a fun Arts & Crafts Club for children and teens of all ages to come at get creative.
