A big thank you to Meghan Aitkin for a excellent demonstration of landscape painting in oils on Monday evening. I think we all learned something new!

Our session on 16th March will be a painting demonstration by local artist Meghan Aitkin. Meghan will be demonstrating the use of acrylic paint in landscape that includes clouds, sky, trees and river. You can find Megan on Facebook if you wish to check out her work.

The demo will be filmed and projected so that the whole audience gets a good view.

There will be a charge for members of £2, and for any guests you wish to bring with you £3.

The session starts at 7pm and finishes at 9pm with a break for refreshments as usual. No painting by members possible in this session.

Tomorrow the 1st of December is our last session before Christmas. The following Monday is our Christmas meal.
Our first session of 2026 will be on 12th January.

Hello, would you be able to promote our art exhibition please? It's in aid of the RNLI. Poster attached. Details are as follows:
Carlisle & Border Art Society presents an exhibition by local artists at Wetheral Village Hall. All original paintings, prints and cards are for sale. Charity raffle and refreshments in support of the RNLI.
Open Friday 24th October to Sunday 26th October, 10-5 daily. Free admission. All welcome.

Our AGM is on Monday September 15th 2025, 7pm

We may need to increase our fees from £25 a year to £30 or £35.
And the commission paid on picture sales at exhibitions to 20% (which is still much lower than most exhibitions)

In addition there will be a competition for 'The Best Picture', so make sure you bring along a recent painting for everyone to see and vote on.

Our next exhibition will be Friday 24th to Sunday 26th October at Wetheral Village Hall

We will need an eye catching image for our publicity poster. Please can you either email an image of a recent painting, or bring it to the AGM making clear that it is for the poster, not the best picture competition.

We will be electing officers for the Committee as some members have decided to stand down.

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

End of this summer term will be next Monday, July 14th
Autumn term starts on Monday, September 8th.
We look forward to seeing you back in September if you can't make the final session on Monday.

EVENTS
Many of our artists will be exhibiting with Carlisle and Cumbria Arts at the Cathedral Fratry from Saturday August 2nd to Sunday August 17th, 10 am to 4 pm.
We hope you can visit, and encourage friends and family as well, as this is usually a very good exhibition.

Robert Brindley will be coming to offer advice to artists on June 30th. This is the only visit he will make before we break up for the summer.

We hope to keep meeting until July 14th and, after the summer break, return in early September, date to be announced.
