REPCo is a initiative providing funding, advice, and management support to entrepreneurial students running their own arts projects at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. The College gives over its main performance spaces, including the Dora Stoutzker Hall, Richard Burton Theatre, and public Foyer space, for one week every term. The subsequent termly REPCo Festival sees a wide range of performances led, resourced and managed by students. Throughout the year, project proposals are received by REPCo’s student Board of Directors, approving and supporting these proposals through all stages of the project.

Products

REPCo provides funding, advice, and management support to students running their own arts projects:

FUNDING
Throughout the year, a student Board of Directors receive proposals from students hoping to organise their own performances. Funded by the Welsh Government and the European Regional Development Fund, REPCo provides seed funding for projects and covers costs such as venue hire, front-of-house staff, promotion/marketing costs, music hire, and any other performance related costs. Profits from REPCo funded projects are used to develop the projects year on year, creating a sustainable business model.

ADVICE
The student Board of Directors meet on a weekly basis with student project leaders to discuss the progress of REPCo funded projects and offer advice and support.

MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
REPCo works in partnership with the MA Arts Management programme at the College. MA Arts Management students are teamed up with students running their own projects. The outcome is two-fold. Not only do REPCo funded projects benefit from a variety of arts management related skills, but MA Arts Management students also gain valuable ‘on-the-job’ experience related to their training at the College.
