As a hip-hop artist, I’ve never been content with the status quo or perception(s) of hip-hop. Much of the hip-hop that I grew up listening to pushed the boundaries and challenged people’s beliefs of what a rapper could be. I was moulded by the theological and intellectual depth of artists like K to the 2nd Letter and Lecrae . I found solace in the discographies of artists like Kendrick Lamar whose intricately crafted stories and emotive delivery held ransom my attention at a young age. The use of metaphors, punchlines and intricate rhyme schemes in J. Cole and Eminem’s bodies of work served as my lyrical foundation. In so many ways, God offered Hip-Hop to me and my humble use of the pen is simply my offering back to Him and the culture He has used, and continues to use to mould me.

I had the pleasure of popping out to SoFar Sounds Harare and the US Embassy’s creative networking event in partnership with SAMBIRI. Being in a space with creatives is always fun coz they remind you that it’s okay to be crazy and follow your dreams (and also leave the house coz I don’t go out much🤪)

A few weeks ago I attended the Focus Wales Film Festival in Wrexham for Please Mr Preacher’s nomination for Best International Music Video. It’s crazy to see how a piece birthed in personal and collective pain can have a wide impact and be recognised internationally🌍. Humbled by the opportunity and more to follow☝🏿

On the 21st of March I put on and headlined my first ever show - When Hip Hop Meets Theatre. To say the show was an overwhelming success is an understatement and part of me is still soaking it in. The success means all the more considering how little time we had to organise and promote it and to add to that the size of the venue we did it in for an upcoming artist like myself.

To all the supporting acts - I am forever grateful for your presence and support. To the choir who dedicated late night and early morning rehearsals until 3 AM in Budiriro with me to make this possible - thank you, may your efforts be rewarded.

To the friends and family who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly - your presence in my life is invaluable.

To those who attended and celebrated the evening with us - your energy is infectious and a performer’s joy.

To the person who delivered a gift package for me before the show - I cherish you more than words can express.

21 March, 2026 - the night When Hip-Hop Met Theatre.

We will be back with more, so soon.
