Something a little different today- a more sculptural piece. A moon jar thrown in buff clay on a course Cardiff Pottery Workshops and then adorned with a 3d flower. I left the buff clay raw on the outside, the inside is glazed in a transparent so it can hold water and then left all the glaze for the flower to really pop, added gold lustre to finish. I’m really pleased with how the concept from my head has come to life, definitely given me lots of inspiration for more

A fruity selection
My go to things to paint on pots seem to always circle back and forth with flowers and fruits, blues and reds. I love the bold graphic nature it leans into.

This year I took the advance throwing course earlier in the year and was taught by master potter how to throw a moon jars on the wheel. It’s given me such a confidence boost with handling larger quantities of clay which I was finding I was shying away from. I love the possibilities of these larger pieces, bigger surfaces to decorate, more flowers to hold, a statement piece for your mantle. Definitely expect more in this vein over the next few months too.

New stock headed to .and.oak this week 🌼
This batch has turned out super glossy and colourful (even more so than normal!) and I love them- especially all the blue. Beakers, bud vases and trinket dishes- and a big pile of screen printed T-shirts too will be heading up tomorrow ready for the weekend

Sharing a couple of pieces from the end of last year as a bit of inspo for myself. I’m finally able to get back to the studio this week to start work on some new pieces, I’m excited to get back to it. The candle sticks I made last year sold straight away so I’ll definitely look at making some more this month- a little light in the dark days of winter. Plus they’re an excuse to add more gold to pieces which is always fun ✨
