BayArt is artist-led at its heart, embedded within a beautiful, intimate, creative space in one of Cardiff Bay’s busy streets. Butetown Artists occupy 16 studios above the gallery, along with a studio flat suitable as an artist residency/research space. BayArt gallery exists to support fine art practice, through offering a platform for exhibitions to a range of emerging and mid career artists, fro

m Wales and further afield. BayArt also offers interpretation of its exhibitions for a range of different audiences through artists talks, seminars and workshops. Key to every show is the invitation to schools to work with the gallery on projects to develop children’s and teacher’s understanding of contemporary art. The approach is one of inclusivity and accessibility, seeing the gallery as a creative space, in which art can be experienced and explored.

Come and join us for our Zine making workshop this Thursday 30th July with writer Meg Shergold and Curator Charlotte Grayland 📰📝 6-8pm at __BayArt!

Inspired by the work of Jamie Loftus and responding to the works of sunnyboyyy Esyllt and more 🌭

This Zine Workshop is an opportunity to interact with and respond to The Hot Dog Show, curated by Charlotte Grayland. During this creative session we’ll explore the themes of pop culture, nostalgia, meme culture, humour, q***r experience, satire, iconography, domestic life, childhood memory and consumption. Led by Welsh writer and BayArt Gallery Manager, Meg Shergold, this workshop will explore how multiple art disciplines (collage, illustration, writing etc) can be used to create a zine.

The Workshop is free to attend but Donations are Welcomed 😊 any questions please feel free to DM us! ✉️

We are so excited to announce that our next group show ‘THE HOT DOG SHOW’ curated by Charlotte Grayland opens on the 17th July- 8th August! 🌭

THE HOT DOG SHOW is a group exhibition that brings together artists as ‘CHEFS’, to prepare a selection of MEALS (artworks) and MENUS (writings), using the hot dog as an edible vessel to explore topics such as pop culture, nostalgia, meme culture, humour, q***r experience, satire, iconography, domestic life, childhood memory and consumption.

‘Meals’ and ‘Menus’ are now ready to be served this Friday 17th July, 6-9pm 🍽️ 🖼️

Everyone is Welcome and Drinks will be available to help keep everyone cool 🧊🥂

‘Return to Sender’ gathers a group of Spanish and Welsh artists working with memory as something unstable, physical, and unfinished.

Across painting, image, and material processes, works will explore how the past insists on taking shape - not preserved intact - but altered, folded, and translated through various physical matter.

📆 Show open 13th-25th February.

🇪🇸 ‘Return to Sender’ reúne a un grupo de artistas españoles y galeses que trabajan la memoria como algo inestable, físico y nunca del todo concluido.

A través de la pintura, la imagen y distintos procesos materiales, las obras exploran cómo el pasado insiste en tomar forma —no como algo preservado intacto— sino transformado, plegado y traducido a través de la materia.

Exposición abierta del 13 al 25 de febrero.

Inauguración (PV): 13 de febrero, de 18:00 a 21:00 — entrada libre.

Horario: miércoles y sábados, de 12:00 a 17:00 o con cita previa.
