Who are we? Hi there! We are Alexandru Ticalo and Claudia Petre, two digital makers who share a passion for combining traditional and digital methods of fabrication concrete in unconventional ways. We started feelCRETE out of our curiosity to explore the connections that exist between the physical, digital and material world. Our vision
We believe that during the last decade, people have suppressed their tactile sense due to the rapid advancements in technology and alienated their connection to physical objects. feelCRETE comes as a response to this issue and it is our belief that we can restore people’s tactile memory and to create high quality products for your senses. Our products
Each feelCRETE product is carefully thought according to our design principles so that it appeals to different human senses. Our desire is that by using our products it would be more of an experience for people and would allow them to develop an affinity for materials. We are not aiming for perfection and every piece we create is unique so we can allow the material to have its say. Not only that we love the mess of the making process while working with concrete but it allows us to experiment with the material, no matter if it is going to be a fail or a win in the end. Why concrete? Concrete is a material with loads of personality and we are fascinated by that thus we like to offer its freedom. We are fascinated with combining different pieces of the world with this mysterious grey powder and watch the magic happen. We do not have a planned path when we are designing but we love to test new ideas and share our passion with you. Creation process
Every piece that takes life at feelCRETE starts as a feeling which generates an idea. Later, during the creation process that idea takes the form of a drawing or model. Once the brainstorming process is over we proceed to materialize our ideas by combining traditional and digital fabrication methods of fabrication that involve technologies such as 3D Printing, Laser cutting and CNC milling. After the piece has gone through the fabrication process it is ready to meet the hands of its maker for the final touch. Even though the process of making every piece might take between 5-10 days, it never truly ends. Concrete is a material that constantly change its state according to its surroundings. This way, every piece we create is unique.
