We had a wonderful time playing for the graduating students at the USW Trefforest Campus on Friday! Thanks to them for letting us be a part of the ceremony and after-celebrations! We even got to see Steven Moffat receive his honorary doctorate!! Also, massive thanks to Chris and Virginia for helping us out!!

We had a wonderful time playing for 'A Celebration of Welsh Chamber Music' last night, a massive thank you to our lovely oboe player, Hilary, who organised the concert and well done to both Weston Winds and Blackweir Brass for your fabulous playing. Thank you to our lovely, friendly audience and a special shout out for Alicia for being so lovely and coming to play flute with us!

Polly Horton is the bassoon player in Melys Winds. Her inspiration for music came from playing piano and percussion before taking up the bassoon aged twelve. Hailing from Hereford, she studied her BMus degree at the University of Leeds, spending a year of that studying abroad at the University of North Texas. She is now completing her MMus Orchestral Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, hoping to further her love of orchestral playing to a professional standard, with the dream of becoming an orchestral bassoonist.

When not playing bassoon or spending endless hours making reeds, Polly enjoys games of golf with her dad, drinking gin and playing cribbage. You can see more about Polly on her website: http://phorton93.wixsite.com/mysite

Hannah Scott is the flute/piccolo player in Melys Winds. She has lived in wales for the past 5 years studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She is originally from Bournemouth and has played the flute for over 13 years In addition, she has recently been given work as an extra player with a professional orchestra.

Hilary Stavros Ives is the oboe/cor anglais player in Melys Winds. Originally from the US, she has happily made her new home in Wales. She's played oboe for about 16 years, and also dabbles in folk fiddle and period instruments.

When she's not making music, she loves to FaceTime with her nieces and nephew, bake homemade bread, read historical fiction, and watch all manner of clever TV comedies. You can see even more about her on her website: hilary-stavros.com.
