Our first lecture-recital! Thank you to Richard Boothby for such a fascinating discussion on the relationship between Carl Friedrich Abel and Thomas Gainsborough. Richard brought them to life with paintings, letter extracts and his beautiful playing of solo works by Abel, from both the Drexel Manuscript and Malzan Collection.

Pure magic, from start to finish. Tom Ollendorff left the audience wanting so much more - our very first jazz hour couldn't have been more of a success. We were treated to Tom's own improvisations, Jimmy van Heusen, Steve Swallow, Nat King Cole and Claude Debussy... we've already invited him back!

We are thrilled to welcome violist da gamba Richard Boothby and harpsichordist Andrew Wilson-Dickson on Sunday 26 April, 6pm, Canton Uniting Church.

Richard will deliver a lecture-recital focussing on the works of George Frederick Abel, and his friendship with the artist Thomas Gainsborough. The pair met in Bath in 1760, with Gainsborough going on the include the viol in portraits thereafter, capturing their mutual love of the instrument.

WHAT A CONCERT!!!! Our attention didn’t want for a moment. Sheer virtuosity, tenderness, humour and making every single note look easy from start to finish. The audience clapped louder and longer than ever before - and we were treated to Tailleferre’s Berceuse for an encore!
