We are a community choir based in Cardiff, rehearsing on Wednesdays at 7:15 in Canton Uniting Church.

Principal Accompanist: Emily Gait-Scaglioni We rehearse in Canton Uniting Church on Wednesday evenings 7.45 - 9.30 in term time. We are very happy to welcome new members & require no auditions.

What a lovely winter concert last Saturday evening. We thoroughly enjoyed performing Brahms’ Schicksalslied and Dvořák’s Mass in D to such a warm and appreciative audience in St John’s Church in Canton.

Many thanks to our Director of Music, Benjamin Teague, for such inspirational leadership; to our principal accompanist, Emily Gait-Scaglioni; to organist Andrew Wilson Dickson; and to our soloists who all made the evening so special.

Rehearsals for our Summer Concert begin on Wednesday 18 February at 7.15pm in Canton Uniting Church, and we would be delighted to welcome new members in all sections, particularly tenors and basses. There’s no audition, so do come along for a rehearsal and see if we are the right choir for you!

I'm looking forward to directing Canton Chorus this Saturday in their winter concert, featuring Brahms' Schicksalslied and Dvořák Mass in D. 7:30pm on the 7th at St John's, Canton, if you'd like to come along.

Here are some facts about Dvořák:

He grew up in a humble Bohemian village in his father's inn 🍻

He LOVED trains! 🚂

His most famous works were written in America, despite suffering from severe agoraphobia 🇺🇸

There’s just one week to go until our Winter Concert! ❄️🎶

Join us on Saturday 7 February 2026 at 7.30pm at the Church of St John the Evangelist, Canton, for an uplifting evening of choral music. The programme features Brahms’ Schicksalslied and Dvořák’s Mass in D major, conducted by Benjamin Teague, with Emily Gait-Scaglioni (piano), Andrew Wilson Dickson (organ) and excellent professional soloists.

£10 suggested donation on the door (cash only).

Yesterday evening, following an enjoyable and inspiring rehearsal, Canton Chorus held its Annual General Meeting. The evening was tinged with both gratitude and sadness as we said thank you and goodbye to our wonderful Chair, Steve Bowkett, and Vice Chair, Richard Tebboth, who have both stepped down from their roles.

Steve and Richard have given so much to the choir over so many years, with Steve serving as Chair for nearly 30 years! Their dedication, leadership and commitment have shaped Canton Chorus into the thriving, joyful community it is today. It was a pleasure to present them with cards and gifts as a small token of our heartfelt appreciation.

We’re delighted that both Steve and Richard will continue to sing with us.

We are thrilled to welcome Lesley Jones as our new Chair and Janet Daly as Vice Chair. We wish them every success in their new roles and look forward to the next exciting chapter for Canton Chorus.

🎶 What a fantastic evening it was on Wednesday as we welcomed members back for the first rehearsal of the autumn term when we started working on Dvořák’s beautiful Mass in D Major.

Many thanks to our brilliant Director of Music, Benjamin Teague, and our outstanding accompanist, Emily Gait-Scaglioni, for leading us with such energy and inspiration. Here's to a wonderful season ahead! 🍂🎵
