Reunion - Fear and Relief
This piece was created to reflect the emotions surrounding some of the tragic events being created by the ICE organisation in the USA. Imagine having your child stripped away from you, the fear and pain that would run through you. And then imagine the relief and joy when reunited. This painting presents that tender reunion: a mother kneels to hold her child close, faces pressed together in a moment of quiet relief. Rich blues and warm ochres define the figures while layered brushwork adds texture and depth. A misty background with a chain‑link fence, drifting feathers, and a distant officer marked "ICE" frames the scene, introducing a narrative of separation and protection without overwhelming the intimacy in the foreground. Soft light washes focus attention on the connection between the two figures and the subtle symbolism around them.
