Its been a crazy few weeks for Sankeys and the first thing we want to do is thank all of you for your incredible support right across the UK and Ireland
We thought it might be nice at this stage to update you on some of the exciting things which have happened already. As we have stated from the outset, this campaign is about helping all of us who love to dance get some new life back in the scene and we are really encouraged by the reaction we have had, not just from our own Sankeys family but also from local promoters, DJ's venues and councils across the land
Birmingham: Although we launched in Birmingham just before the main doyouwannasankeys campaign came to light, the UK's 2nd city is one where we have been lucky enough to receive an amazing reaction and tons of great support.
Working hand in hand with some of the most passionate dance music crews in the city, we have been able to secure an incredible space which will be used exclusively for Sankeys once every 2 months (at least). The first party is March 11th and the line up is one we are very proud to present. Tickets for that sold out in record time and we cant wait to come and party with everyone there!
Torquay: Although Torquay isn't the first name which might come to mind when one thinks about underground dance music, the scene there is growing fast and its certainly one of the most beautiful places in the country. We managed to connect with a group of people in Torquay who share, absolutely, our passions. Great sound and cutting edge music in an industrial setting. We were delighted to find that they were already underway with building a fantastic new club and so we have entered into a close partnership with them which will mean us advising on everything from programming through to operating systems to help them make this a real asset for the people in that area for many years to come. As well as that, Sankeys will become the lead resident brand, putting on regular parties with all our favourite artists. We also have a great concept for the Summer down there ....so stay tuned!
Stoke: The people of Stoke have been FANTASTIC! The response to our campaign there has been one of the biggest and so we are already looking at over 20 possible locations to bring a significant presence to the area. Whether this will be a full time club or a regular, large scale party series remains to be seen. We will keep you all updated as we go along. This is about everyone getting involved and working together to create a whole new era or underground music and events in the UK and Stoke is a great example of that
Newcastle: What can we say about the Toon??? Surely the city is home to the nicest and most welcoming people in the world. They have been incredible in their positivity and the support we have received already in the area has been overwhelming. As with Stoke we are already looking at some possible sites and will 100% be coming to Newcastle in a big way this year! Stay Toon'd guys ;)
Kent: Englands garden has been home to some awesome parties over the years as well as producing some of our favourite artists and labels (Nic Fanciulli and our boy GW Harrison spring to mind straight away!). Coincidentally one of our all time favourite party spots in the area (which has been shut for years) will reopen for a limited period....we couldn't resist the chance to throw one last party in there before it is gone for good. Details on that will be released soon.
Kent will need a bit more support over the rest of the campaign if we are to go the full monty as with Birmingham, Stoke and Newcastle but its looking very promising so far!
London: This week we received some incredible news relating to our London home, in our opinion one of the worlds very best clubs Studio 338. You will no doubt be aware that they tragically suffered from a fire last Summer. We cant say much yet.....but it looks like we will be back on their Terrace much sooner than expected. There are no words for how happy that makes us!
Whilst we wait for that though, we didn't want to leave the capitals Sankeys family without a party and we have a special one off planned for the end of April. Details released very soon!
Rest of the UK and Ireland. Support right across the board has been just amazing but keep voting and gathering up the party people in your area. We are sure that over the next few weeks there will be more success stories to add to this early list
A final word:
Although some of you have excitedly commented that 'Sankeys is taking over' or similar words, this is not what the campaign is about. In places where there isn't much going on right now we are taking the lead....but in other areas its about finding the people who love this music as much as we do and working with them for everyone benefit. Alongside the fantastic NTIA our aim is to connect all of the UK and Ireland's true ravers into one powerful family and bring back the golden days of underground dance music in. Our hope is that this will inspire new parties, producers, labels and clubs and have an effect which will butterfly for years to come
Speaking of the NTIA - be sure to sign the petition here to save nightlife. As was shown with fabric, when we all stand together we can make people see that this is a valuable and indispensable part of our culture and heritage.
