Featuring my daughter on a tree swing in Kings Wood in between Faversham and Ashford in Kent.

For those new to my work you will find all my drawing’s feature figures just from behind. I call this “from behind the future” and is very much inspired by the German romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich who used it extensively in his work.

This particular landscape captures the woods mid winter, hence the dramatic tree shadow’s and lack of foliage which at this time of year is treaded into the ground with a mixture of decaying leaves and fallen branches.

my daughter appears to be levitating created by the drop shaddow and is also camouflaged due to the details/noise within the composition. For me a sense of fun and childhood exploration plays a central theme in my work.

I’m looking to create a bigger version in charcoal to push myself out of my fineliner comfort zone 🤞

My latest drawing from the banks of Faversham Creek at high tide.

Features a boat called “Findlay Macdonald 212” which on occasions can be seen rowing up and down the creek.

Those familiar with the area will spot the unique and iconic church spire in between the tree branches which was used by sailors to navigate into Faversham (I think).

The banks of Faversham creek are lined with old willow trees on one side and on the other side a mixture of old mills, warehouses and a mixture of old and new residential dwellings, sprinkled with the odd sailing boat.

With February coming to an end and as the days get longer I’m finally getting out of my cave more drawings to follow soon.

Did I really say I would finish my latest pen and ink drawing in a week 🙈

I think…I hope another week to complete this drawing 🤞

For those of you just discovering my work and style I go all in with the ink first…no drawing or sketching so is a bit like chess in that I have to plan the next step in my head…

Hence the time it takes with many mistakes on show which does grate on my natural instinct for craftsmanship.

Let me know your thoughts on this rendering so far

of my latest pen and ink drawing…Swipe To Zoom Out

This view is from the a disused gunpowder factory in

I’m naturally drawn…No pun intended…to disused and derelict structures which nature has started to reclaim.

these landscapes can appear apocalyptic via pop culture references. For me it provides a contrast between natures random soft edges and the human desire for order, patterns and structure.

More on this drawing to follow…😉

Clouds completed 😅 Waves 🌊 next. My latest

Have made a start on the featuring “Kent” white horses 🙈and you can see one of my influences Japanese artist starting to take shape in this video.

The waves are not exactly like Mavericks in , quiet the opposite but I have deployed a tiny degree of artistic license to enhance the drama of the you can just make out some of the kite surfers 🏄‍♀️

Based on my current rate I think this will take another 2 / 3 weeks and hope to post another update when the sea is complete mid week...I’m undecided if I want to complete this picture (I will BTW). Enjoying the journey more then the destination I think. Have a nice

I’m looking to push beyond what I feel comfortable with now and you can follow my progress with this render on here.

I’ve had this idea for a while which features Old Neptune, kite surfers, a deep sea diver who has pulled the plug and dramatic clouds which some of you may recognise from my studies in my sketch book.

Swipe for a close look 👈🏿
