✨DREAMCATCHERS ✨

On Tuesday we celebrated the final sharing of this year's PROJEKT ENCOUNTER at the University of Kent.

Over 18 weeks, participants from across the world came together to explore dreams: the dreams that visit us while we sleep, and the dreams that guide us through life. Through stories, songs, poems, movement, laughter, and conversation, they created *Dreamcatchers* — a powerful multilingual performance about hope, belonging, imagination, and the many futures we carry within us.

The performance was created by a remarkable group of refugees, asylum seekers, and first-generation migrants living in Kent, led by the our amazing migrant artists Francisca Stangel and Olha Smolyk.

To everyone who took part: thank you for your courage, generosity, creativity, and trust. We are so proud of what you created together.

Thank you also to our partners at the School of Arts and Architecture at the University of Kent, our supporters, volunteers, artists, technicians, and audience members who helped make this year's programme possible.

And thank you to Kent Community Foundation, Colyer Fergusson Charitable Trust, The Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust, The National Lottery Community Fund, Beckenham Theatre Trust and the Enterprise Arts Trust for supporting the project.

As always, ENCOUNTER reminded us that while our journeys may be different, our dreams connect us.

Epic story making in progress!

Earlier this week we spent a couple of brilliant days with our writers on SONGS OF SOLIDARITY - Anna Sulan Masing, Inua Ellams, Leo Boix, Sabrina Mahfouz and Saili Katebe.

Over the past few weeks, they’ve been interviewing people with lived experience of forced displacement, listening to their stories and thinking about how these might map onto ancient epic narratives.

We spoke about the admin of being a refugee; the language you use to tell your story; hope and belonging; birds, ruins and ghosts; and migration as a natural and perpetual fact of human existence.

SONGS OF SOLIDARITY is an ambitious new theatre work co-produced between PROJEKT EUROPA and Dash Arts exploring contemporary migration through a reimagined, collaboratively authored 21st-century epic.

✨ PROJEKT EMPOWER 2026 MENTEE ✨

Meet Tomaž Krajnc!

Tomaž Krajnc is a Slovenian theatre director based in London whose work explores identity, power, and the psychology of relationships through minimal, actor-led staging.

Before training in directing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Tomaž studied psychology — an influence deeply present in his artistic practice and writing.

Alongside directing, he is developing original writing projects including Semantics, a play examining how language shapes thought, identity, and connection.

Tomaž will be mentored by Jordan Fein.

We’re excited to have Tomaž joining PROJEKT EMPOWER 2026 🎭
