Artist Spotlight - Kathleen MacInnes

The Beinn an Tuirc Gaelic Night opens the MOK Fest’s 2026 celebrations with top Gaelic singer, Caitlin NicAonghais or Kathleen MacInnes. This is a special opportunity to see and hear this talented actress, TV presenter and Gaelic singer accompanied by Mike Vass who is one of the most creative forces on the Scottish music scene. The concert will be in Campbeltown’s Argyll Arms Hotel on Wednesday, August 19th.

Kathleen’s album, Cille Bhrìde or Kilbride, won Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards in 2012. In 2010, Kathleen appeared on the soundtrack to the Ridley Scott film Robin Hood, which starred Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

Kathleen was born on South Uist and after a few years of TV presenting and acting jobs she became known for her singing voice releasing three albums to critical acclaim. She was Gaelic singer of the year in 2006 and more recently guested with Skye based Niteworks.

Kathleen & Mike headlined the 2023 Gaelic Night and make a hugely welcome return to headline a night of tunes, stories and songs. Norman MacKinnon and Alex McAllister will also perform along with a host of local and visiting artists with Christine Macintyre as Bean-an-Tigh

Hi Folks,

We are delighted be hosting a gig on Friday night in the Black Sheep Pub with Angelface, Ragbag of Contradictions and Che Martin. The gig is free, runs from 7pm - 10pm and will finish in time for football at 11pm. Angelface are in town as they are going a MOK Fest workshop and performance at Campbeltown Grammar School in the afternoon which is part of our on going music development programme at CGS.

angelfaceband are a 4-piece all female dreampop band and they have recently played in Glasgow venues such as King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Mono, Nice and Sleazy and McChuills. They have now built a reputation for combining stunning harmonies with relatable, storytelling song writing.

The band have told us “We’re so excited to be speaking to the pupils at the Grammar School about our experiences in the music industry and how to make the most of their talent. We played our first gig in Campbeltown and Kintyre is such a musical place with links to superstars like Paul McCartney and John Martyn so it’s always great to come back and play and visit the lovely beaches and cafes.”

All three acts will also be performing at the Kintyre Songwriters Festival which runs from July 3rd - 5th. We are running this gig in partnership with J.I.G. Events, Kintyre Songwriters Festival and Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club who run monthly sessions in the Black Sheep on the last Friday of every month.

Band Spotlight - Slainte Davaar Allstars

Campbeltown’s own supergroup Slainte Davaar Allstars will once again close this years MOK Fest on Aug 23rd at the Kilkerran Survivors Night. Joining Slainte Davaar on stage will be Kintyre Schools Pipe Band, We.R.Soul, Session A83 and Jim and Joanne Swan who are making their debut at the MOK Fest. Alison M Leith will MC with more acts still to be announced.

Slainte Davaar Allstars who formed in 2012 come together each year to perform a brand-new set of fantastic tracks that span the decades and genres. The core band members are joined by selection of guest musicians each year making each performance unique and not be missed. The band also performed their own version of Space Odyssey which was broadcast to the International Space Station in 2020 and they have once again promised a set that will bring MOK Fest 2026 to a close in style.

Band Spotlight - Blazin Fiddles

Blazin' Fiddles headline this year’s Traditional Concert in Campbeltown Heritage Centre on August 22nd. Winners of the 2025 Scot Trad Awards folk band of the year, Blazin' Fiddles are performing for the first time at the festival since 2006. Opening the concert is Beth Malcolm accompanied by Jim Malcolm. Beth will be making her debut at the event.

Artist Spotlight – Che Martin

This year’s MOK Fest Dalriada Connections Concert on Aug 23rd in Campbeltown Heritage Centre features a great selection of acts showcasing some of the best national and local music.

The concert headlines with Ímar a 5 piece band that includes musicians from bands such as Talisk, Manran, Mic Lir and Rura who are not to be missed. Also performing is local singer songwriter Che Martin making his debut at this concert. He will be joined by a host of other musicians including Lorne MacDougall, Scooter Muse & Jil Chambless (USA), Ciaran & Jo Mulholland and Ross Conner at this fantastic afternoon concert.

Campbeltown born singer/songwriter Che Martin has been writing songs for the past few years and now has a large catalogue of songs ranging from indie folk rock to gentle ballads and anthemic Scottish standards with a local theme. He is a regular performer in the town and is a member of the session band that play in the Black Sheep on the last Friday of every month.

Kintyre Schools Pipe Band performers and volunteers have a busy schedule at this year’s MOK Fest which runs from Aug 19 – 23. Their first performance will be at Young Folk Night on Aug 20 next they will perform at the head of the Old Quay on the Friday evening prior to marching into the Victoria Hall to open this year’s Festival Ceilidh.

On Sat 22 they will meet at the head of the Quay before marching up Main Street to perform at 1.00pm. On Sunday 23 the band will once again perform at Kilkerran Survivors Night following fantastic performances at the last 3 Survivors Night concerts. The concert also features Slainte Davaar Allstars, We.R.Soul, Jim and Joanne Swan, and Session A83 with more acts still to be announced.

A spokesman for the festival said “it’s fantastic that the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band will once again perform at so many events at this year’s festival. Their final performances at Kilkerran Survivors Night have been outstanding and we can’t wait to see what they have lined up for us this year. The festival committee can’t thank both Kintyre Schools Pipe Band and Campbeltown Brass for performing once again at the event. They have both won so many national and international competitions with so many talented and dedicated musicians and tutors in both bands. They are great ambassadors for the town.”
