Hello everyone!

I have recently completed this commissioned piece. Painted on stretch canvas, the painting was a gift from son to father showing the father with a cherished family pet, enjoying the sunshine outside their home.

It seems fitting to have uploaded this piece after . I previously done a portrait of the dog as a puppy so I was delighted to get the chance to paint him again.

Many thanks John for the commission.

My summer commissions are now open. Please PM for more details.

Hello everyone!

FOR SALE:

Here we have another painting of and any fan of or should be able to locate where I was when I painted this.

Titled “Night-time at Tollymore” this piece highlights the magic and mystery of Tollymore Forest Park. Aside from its contribution to the film industry, Tollymore Forest Park was the first state forest park in Northern Ireland, established on 2 June 1955. It is located at Bryansford, near Newcastle. Covering 630 hectares (1,600 acres) at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and this forest offers great views of the surrounding mountains and the sea at Newcastle. The Shimna River flows through the park where it is crossed by 16 bridges, the earliest bridge dating back to 1726.

FOR SALE

I had a lot of fun researching this .

Built by Lord Mountjoy in 1601, Moyry Castle (from the Irish meaning "plain of the king") is situated in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It was built during the latter stages of the Nine Years' War to help secure Moyry Pass and the Gap of the North. It is set in the corner of a small bawn and is a small rectangular tower three storeys high. Built on solid rock, the castle is three stories high. There are musketry loopholes on each wall except the North facing wall. This wall held the fireplaces which protrude on the outside.

The most famous story of the area, is about a cat. Mountjoy left his warder and 12 men to garrison the Castle in 1601. Shortly after this, his warder shot a local man reputed to be a wizard, as a spy. The wizard’s sole companion was an enormous black cat, who in revenge, destroyed the garrison. He attacked the army's flocks and herds and carried them off. And the Cat of Moyry Castle became a legend of terror to the soldiers of the pale.

This 12 x 9-inch oil on canvas is framed and for sale (the painting not the castle lol and the Cat of Moyry is not included)

Hello everyone!

Another day. Today we’re looking at the Flagstaff view point. This oil on canvas piece was time-consuming but well worth the work as I’m sure we can all agree the view up there is magical. So called the flagstaff due to the flags that used to flown to announce the arrival of boats at Carlingford Lough, you can see both the Mourne Mountains and the Cooley Mountains in this image. I highly recommend a visit as it offers great inspiration.

This piece is now in a private collection.

Happy Surrealism Saturday everyone!

Here is one of my original pieces entitled "Pressure Builds"

It is a comment on the demand for housing and the developments constructed to maximise land usage and profit. I’m sure many of us are constantly eyeing up the property market and no doubt we’ve all had our issues with rent and housing so I felt this was a piece that many could relate to. This piece was sold in Dublin and is now in private collection.
